Recommended hotel in San Diego?
 

Looks like the wife and and I might be headed to San Diego in June. Hitting up the Zoo/Balboa Park, a Padres game, and the U.S.S. Midway. Pretty much tourist stuff since it is our first trip to San Diego.

I would rather not drive, and take public transportation around if possible. Where would you recommend grabbing a hotel room for 5-6 nights?

Shalimar Hotel i think it was called i stayed there 2 or so years ago A+ its right by the stadium

Location is key here. I don't want to be paying hefty cab rides too often if possible.

What is your budget per night?...Downtown/gaslamp has lots of options..I like the Embassy Suites on Harbor Drive right near Seaport Village...or The Omni or Marriot right next to Petco Park

I will pry just book it with our flights, unless I can get a great rate directly through the hotel or different site then our flights. Just starting to check everything out. Location is key if we can walk or have short cab rides to tourist things.

Great place, great location if you want to be downtown, it's a W or Standard type of place with a nice roof deck Bar.
