Fucking punk... this character, "Jay", took some money from me a long time ago to do some designs and work on one of my sites orientalxxxpress.com.

After a couple of miscommunications and other bullshit things happen, he switches to another ICQ account and says some story about life, drama, sorry - but can he make it up?

I said sure and gave him a chance to make it up.

So after SIX weeks, he comes to me asking for more money, and I tell him "Dude, are you nuts? You didn't even deliver on the first project!"

No answer.

So today, I post a thread about needing a designer. Jay sends me an ICQ - luckily for me, trillian keeps the log right in plain sight. I see that my last words to him were "go fuck yourself". I do some research into the history, and recall the bad taste in my mouth from the last time we did business.

Well, I'm not the type to trip on things, and rather than get in an argument - I just told him no thanks, I have already found someone else to do the work. He goes away for a bit.... THEN MESSAGES ME FROM THE OTHER ACCOUNT!!!!

God dammit, if you had just left well enough alone, I would rather NOT have wasted my time typing this shit. But it's obvious that this guy didn't just leave me high and dry as a one time thing - it's a habit and a way of doing business for him. He messaged me from another account, forgetting that I had told him off on both of them...

So tonight our convo goes like this:

Jay: hello
Jay: still looking for designer
Jay: hello
wolfy: no thanks Jay
Jay: hehe
Jay: why bro
Jay: i want to help you
wolfy: you owe me from the last time I did business with you
wolfy: I paid you and you never sent me the PSD files for this: (list of examples)

...... no reply yet.



Lesson - stay away from this guy.

I Had bad experience with this guy also.
He wanted to work full time for us. We setup a deal.
In 3 weeks he did a couple of banners and some FHG and the ugliest header ever seen for a gay site.
I think it's the same guy that run bannerants.com but I can't confirm.

Sorry to hear that. There are some really good designers out there.

I know personally I usually just get payment when the client is happy. They are usually pretty trustworthy and will offer to pay up front or a deposit.

Guess you just have to go by referrals these days.

I've had my fair share of shady deals in my tenure as a webmaster, but it's not often someone like this tries to pull the same shit on me twice.

I believe this is the same jay that used to run BannerDept and fucked several people out of money. He got us good and unfortunately there are several companies here who still do business with him because he hasn't screwed them YET! I have all his personal information and next time I'm the area he will be getting a visit, and not a very nice one I might add.
