A work around for the VISA situation?
 

What if a company were to get a merchant account for hardgoods....then they sell a videotape or DVD and by buying the video or DVD, they get a membership to a memership site?

Maybe even a subscription to a video/dvd of the month club and as an added bonus, they recieve access to a fabulous membership site?

I'm sure there would be a snag somewhere there though...

there has been a lot of talk about some type of an adult credit card...the problem with that is trust....you have to have the trust of BOTH the customer and the merchant...there are a ton of guys in this industry that I just simply wouldn't trust to handle something like that...and trying to get a surfer to trust them as well? a very tough, uphill battle....

the trust factor

Well.... If you could give them away for free, let them use it to taste some of the sites, kinda like samples, then get them to WANT to "refill" them for more... there might be some value in it.
It has to be done on a GRAND scale for it to be profitable though.

The major magazines could distribute something like this if there was something in it for them...

Ive seen something along these lines already - a prepaid internet card used to surf anonymously. I dont think it would be a big stretch to get these guys to print password codes on the cards.

And they already have a distribution network.

Problem with hard goods, legislation. Some types of videos can not be distributed to various locales. For example, some areas in Florida you can NOT distribute anal sex videos. It is not the consumers' responsibility, it's the Distributors responsibility. You'll go to jail unless you watch your shipping, like distributors must do.

Under the new Visa rules it seems they have a lot more freedom in picking who they ban from processing with them. I can easily see them finding some way to fuck over anyone trying to do this. Basically they are trying to get everyone to play ball according to their rules and if they dont want you accepting money thru them they will find a way to boot your ass.

Although with Visa's "no liability" policy, you can charge back anything at any time, no questions asked... check it out on Visa's site. So a signature might not even help.

Most people who want a porn membership definately do not want anything shipped to their house. Nice idea but it is much easier just to get a high risk merchant account, outlasy the $$$ for the initial fees and continue business as before but with much more control.
