I started getting a rash - so I went to the Docs and she confirmed it.

The timing couldnt be worse.

I am so pissed off.....

You need to have had Chicken Pox to get Shingles.....

But I do expect that this will be bad - Its worse the older you are.

I was wondering about that - I had a problem last year with a form of Herpes in my eye - Its a bit of a coincidence.

Guess she should have known its much worse for adults than children

I just got over it and I am 30! My daughter and I had it at the same time. Luckily we only had it about 3-4 days. Use Benadryl (however you spell it) It helps! YOu can get it as an adult, and once you have it as a kid, you have 20 percent chance of getting it as shingles as an adult. 300% more painful!

Make sure to stockpile some Calamine lotion as soon as possible.

Keep the blisters clean, and don't scratch at them/pop them.

Schedule nothing but bed-rest.

Adults regularly die from complications from the virus, so take care of yourself - and get better soon.

Calamine lotion (clear type) mixed with Tea tree oil..oatmeal baths..good luck, I hope it doesnt kick your ass.

My finance had shingles about a year ago and apparently he got off light but he was in a heck of a lot of discomfort.

I am pretty sure you need Chicken Pox before you can have shingles. It also follows a nerve - Thats why it is soooooo painful.

So far it dosnt itch that bad - I just feel really fluey. It will come though I am sure.

They both are a form of herpes, and herpes affects the skin and nervous system.

There are about 9 forms of Herpes that affect humans - they all work in different ways.

That bit I do remember :)

Shingles and Chicken Pox are the same virus. It kind of hibernates in the body and comes back as shingles.

So hopefully as I dont think I have had Chicken Pox before it cant be Shingles.

Thats the theory anyway :).

As a kid I was forced into a chicken pox plauge weekened adventure at some kids house. Apparently assorted parents in my area got wind that one kid was coming down with the pox and our damn parents all made us go spend the weekend with that kid so we all got nailed by them.

I somehow escaped the pox that weekend and it was weird being the only kid near me who was not sick, that kind of sucked. Then when I caught them when I was 20 really fucking sucked.

I had them when I was 25 and they kicked my fucking ass. I was out of work for a month... 2 weeks too feverish to remember, and 2 weeks of looking like a fucking monster from the amount of them I ended up getting all over my face and entire body. bottoms of my feet, in my ears, in my throat even... was terrible, and I have a bunch of scars now. good luck man.

I here it's worse when adults get it compared to kids..good luck not scratching
