Did you see it in the theater? I don't say this about many movies, but this needs 100% theater viewing. I'm not even kidding...you'll know what I'm saying after you see it.

CaptainHowdy 02-06-2008 07:52 AM

It opens next Thursday here... can't wait to see it :)!

ladida 02-06-2008 08:08 AM

I read reviews, i read people's comments here, movie sucked :(. I don't like movies without a complete storyline that "leave me thinking". The atmosphere was good, story sucked, overall, incomplete.

Because they don't speak French, I don't know. :Oh crap

Scott McD 02-06-2008 09:18 AM

pornask 02-06-2008 09:24 AM

great movie. For those who are waiting for a DVD - it's one of those flicks that will give you more effect when seen on a big screen. Just don't eat greasy food before hand :D

PaulB 02-06-2008 09:44 AM

I must be missing something because I didn't dig it at all.

Amazing special effects but it dragged on too long (especially the party at the beginning), was predictable and gave me a headache with all the camera movements - could bare it in Blair Witch but for some reason all the running and constant movements in Cloverfield did my head in.

This is exactly why Cloverfield was so good!

It broke the mold, I hate the whole "hero teams up with scientist who explains monsters origin and then finds its weakness" formula, it's so over done. Cloverfield actually had some originality to it.

blair witch + godzilla + viral marketing = win

tony286 02-06-2008 09:48 AM

I have to rent it when it comes out.

CaveCreek_Russell 02-06-2008 09:52 AM

I just thought of how awesome it would have been if a movie like this could have aired as a 'live webcam feed' on msnbc/cnn or something, it would be like the modern day War of the Worlds.

sniperwolf 02-06-2008 10:48 AM

looking forward on the movie! :)

Yea, i can see why some people like it. I just am not a fan of the whole "uncomplete_makes_you_wonder" type of movies. They didn't have to find the weakness or destroy it, but they should have ended it differently :P (don't want to spoil for people too much). I'm not the one to go pick movies based on how something was unreal or impossible or not portrayed like in real life, but i really didn't dig this movie as much as people make it to be :)

Atmosphere 5
Story 2
Overall, 3 :)

:1orglaugh either that or some small town nobody knows about. :1orglaugh I would love to see a monster using the cn tower as a tooth pick, anyway great movie though

royaljelly2 02-06-2008 12:33 PM

shaky camera? i hear that sucked

Honez 02-06-2008 12:39 PM

I normally like my comedies but, this movie did have me on the edge of my seat the entire way through. I loved it!

SykkBoy 02-06-2008 12:47 PM

I loved it. It really is a matter of allowing yourself to be immersed n the movie as if you truly are watching found footage. If you can't get into that mindset, you'll likely be letdown.

The shaky camera didn't bother me, but I did have a couple 'drop the camera and run already" moments with it...

Overall, I just had a great 80 minutes in the theater, but I can see why it's not everyone's cup of tea

Phoenix 02-06-2008 12:47 PM

i loved that movie..it rocked

Persius 02-06-2008 12:49 PM

interesting i heard from a few people that it was great too

Denis_SC 02-06-2008 12:52 PM

That was one piece of crap movie if you ask me and another 600 ppl in the movie theatre that were watching it. There was one loud BOOO from everyone when it ended. :disgust

Exactly...and why do people get so caught up in how a movie ends? Sometimes it's about how you get there, and this one was a crazy fucking journey.

Officer 02-06-2008 05:07 PM

I liked it, was a really different approach. I've never seen blair witch so the hand held cam photography thing was new to me. I agree the party dragged on a bit too long, but it was the character build up ("act 1" or whatever they call it in the movie/play biz). A movie needs something like that so that ppl can relate to the characters.

Martha_WildCash 02-06-2008 05:19 PM

hmmm i think ill go see it tomorrow :)
