Russian Market is growing..

What do you think about Russian porn internet market? looks like it is growing.
And Russia getting online with fast speed. Problem is that billing companies want 60% from revenue.

But Surfer is willling to pay with SMS and Phone. Not so many people have CC though.

But people are willing to pay 4$ ( via SMS ) for 2 days acess. which means 60$ per month...

I think the way to go is to make a mirrow sites in Russian and promote
it on russian market ..

If someone is interested to do so please hit me up and lets discuss.

Antonio 02-06-2008 12:13 AM

do you still pay $400-500 per month for broadband Internet access?

Then there's no hope unless you sell pics for cellphone wallpapers I guess, everything in porn today is about movies...

No, but around $40-$50.

spunkmister 02-06-2008 12:16 AM

I think a lot of people are vary of dealing with the Russian Market due to the high probability of fraud, maybe thats why processors want such a high cut of the revenue, not sure.

But it is defintetly an emerging market, just like the Chinese...just have to find a way to monetize it with minimal risk.

RedGlamourStudio 02-06-2008 03:28 AM

around 25$ for 3000\1000 unlim + 26 chanells of digital tv

Nicky 02-06-2008 03:45 AM

I'm filtering all my russian traffic to a sms page, not been doing it for long though so I can't really say if the results are good or bad

cardinalvices 02-06-2008 04:09 AM

How do you determine age by SMS?

The Judge 02-06-2008 05:17 AM

Isn't porn illegal there? Damn, I think I got an undetectable rootkit trojan just by clicking on this thread :winkwink:

Davy 02-06-2008 06:43 AM

Russian don't care about copyrights. You can buy mp3 compilation cds on every corner.
Porn sites have no future in this market, unless they change their copyright practices.
Or unless you find a way to sell memberships to the very exclusive group of rich people.

same way you determine if your user has pre-paid card from the mall or his moms credit card. I don’t think there is age restrictions on porn.. That issue is not being addressed because “Porn doesn’t exist in Russia“.

Lykos 02-06-2008 07:55 AM

Yeah something to think about definetly, but i never quite understood russian porn law:(

It's about $20 a month for 4Mbit/sec (traffic is unlimited) here is Moscow.

No one understands it. Because there is no clear law about it. There is a 242 asset which says: "Illegal producing and distributing of porn is prohibited". But the law doesn't say:
1) what is porn?
2) what are legal and illegal ways of producing and distributing?

You are so wrong. Distribution of copyrighted content in Russia is prohibited. You will face up to 6 years in jail for it.

Also what is "a group of rich people"? Almost every Russian spends 100's of dollars every month on various mobile content such as "ringtones", "pictures", "themes", "java games", "sms chats" etc...

Lamis 02-06-2008 09:22 AM

No thanks, too many cheaters there...

a great example is the fucking "gatorsss"....

just a punk 02-06-2008 10:15 AM

Do you know that Russia has 101% of mobile phones users? I.e. the number of mobile phones here is more than all population of the country (some ppl. just have more than one phone). That's why almost everyone here is trying to make their paid mobile services, e.g.: "wanna this song on your phone? send us an sms!", "wanna chat with girls? send us an sms!", "wanna speak to a sexy woman? call this short number..", "wanna vote for a participant of this TV show? send us an sms", "wanna get access to our site? send us an sms" and so on and so on...

Violetta 02-06-2008 10:20 AM

It would be nice to get a bigger piece of the russian market...

Zango 02-06-2008 11:25 AM

fuck those funny looking scammers. keep your eyes on China. what that market opens, some of us are going to cash in bigtime.

The Judge 02-06-2008 11:51 AM

Yeah, big time.... you'll all starve when half a million Chinese webmasters start promoting porn.

People(?) with DNA that originates in the Asian continent are good at selling but as surfers they don't buy shit.

This is just, again - more than a total non sense.

It's many of the world's wealthiest people from out there but, there are these things such as oil in there, does that help?

Don't believe in any official figures about GDP or shit like that, double or triple that and you are more or less in picture.

Yep, but laws in russia are only for the poor...the rest "pays" the right people. It's not like russia has a working legal system, pretty much like the US in the 20s and 30s.

Not exactly. Sometimes even a VERY BIG money can't help. e.g.: Khodorkovsky.

Oh, as if its not true for the US. Enron guys or Martha Steward.. How long did she serve in all-inclusive resort, eh? Remind me what the kid got? The one that did make the calls because his boss told him to do it? Remind me how many thugs Bush pardoned for some hefty “donations” to his party? The only difference between Russia and US is that in Russia its called “bribe”, in the US it’s connections, golf buddies, networking or what ever you want to call it. Same shit.

Nearly twice the size of Canada, Russia is the world?s largest country extending over a vast expanse of Asia and Europe.

It has the world's eight-largest population, with some 142m inhabitants. Further Russian speakers also live in the neighbouring countries that were once part of the USSR, before the Berlin wall fell back in 1989.

The subsequent transformation from communism to capitalism made a handful of tycoons such as ?oligarch? Roman Abramovich very rich indeed - according to Forbes Magazine, he has a net worth of some $18.2 billion, and is now the UK?s richest man.

The disparity between the rich and poor is enormous with the vast majority of Russia still having to survive on pitifully low pay - average monthly wages there last year stood at just 8,162 rubles, or about $285.

However, 16.5% of the population, about 23.7m people, are already online and - as with all developing countries - this figure is expected to continue growing exponentially in the months and years ahead.

Credit card penetration in Russia is low, with ?only about five million active credit-card accounts?, according to Brunswick UBS Warburg. Russians would rather use pre-paid cards, rather than credit cards, especially when buying items online.

Online fraud is still all-too commonplace, with no shortage of opportunists wanting to make a quick buck in this, the new land of corrupt Übercapitalism - where who know is still more important than what you know.

One billing mechanism that is still relatively secure is that of phone billing. Chargebacks here are practically unheard of since failure to pay their phone bill will result in the termination of an essential utility which probably also facilitates their connection to the internet.

Russian is the official language, with knowledge of English is restricted to the educated classes who are a minority - so when pitching these surfers you must do so in their native language. Your phone processor should be able to provide you with the tools to do this ? if not, switch to one that can.:pimp

All prices there are in rubles. $1 is almost 25 rubles. Do some math :winkwink:

Just one more link: http://therussiankings.com/ - it's not a my project so do not consider it as a spam. I'm just curious how these guys are making their money if "almost every Russian 99% can't put food on the table and 1% has billions" according to some ignoramus dude who posted here his "genius" comments?

brandonstills 02-08-2008 09:22 PM

Piracy is rampant in Russia. I remember a huge electronics market in Saint Petersburg. They sell tons and tons of CD/DVDs. Costs $2 per DVD. Doesn't matter if there is $2 of content on there or $6000 of software on there. It costs $2. I remember a magazine there called "XAKER" (hacker) that had numerous articles on how to do things like brute force password hacking, how to find free porn, and lots of other things. Russian's aren't used to paying for porn and it's doubtful they will.

I would say that if/when China opens it will be a huge market.
