They're Shooting the show Kitchen Nightmares around the block..

I was out getting coffee and i noticed that the past few days there has been a bunch of trucks and tents over by a restaurant i used to go it 3 mins from my house. we used to go there for a Christmas Brunch each year and take pics with Santa . we stopped last year because the place suddenly started to go to shit and this year they didn't even have it. when i drove past today I saw the Camera Guy interviewing Chef Ramsey out front and it looked like they redid the entire inside . i can't wait to go check the new place out. I love that show ..

the restaurant is called The Handle Bar so if you see that episode its my hood..

not really rats and shit but they go into places that once had a good following and for some reason went to shit .. in most cases the kitchen is dirty and the staff and the chef lost their drive. the owners can't take control and Chef Ramsey (from Hells Kitchen) comes in and rips them a new asshole and then re-builds the place. clean new kitchen .. redesigns the dinning area ..new menu and teaches the owner how to run a successful biz .. its a good show

LiveDose 02-04-2008 12:14 PM

I love that show!

Catch a re-run if you can, great show. (and yes to your question)

Peaches 02-04-2008 12:27 PM

I love it when the owners of these failing restaurants start arguing with Ramsey - one of the most successful restaurateurs in the world, lol. I've been watching the British version for years and the American version last season. Apparently they were looking for places in Atlanta to film also. See if you can grab a seat when he "invites the locals" in for a 1st run :)

xentech 02-04-2008 12:27 PM

good programm :) he abuses the shit out of some people

PaygeaGrl 02-04-2008 12:28 PM

Love that show....The one on the BBC is even better.

D 02-04-2008 12:30 PM

Heheh... I wouldn't have started watching if it wasn't for A1r3k's promotion of the show a few months back...

I gotta admit, it's a fun show... even if a bit staged at times.

Yeah, Mike... if they're still shooting, call and ask when the grand re-opening is. :)

Yeah I'm the same way, if its a popular chain restaurant I'm not paranoid, but the single restaurants that are slow make me wonder how fresh the food is after watching the show.

Lol, yeah he was more worried about getting his hair and nails done and having the nicest car instead of paying the bills to keep his business going.

I don't think those were business bills.

It seems that there are a LOT of kids and relatives of owners who honestly think a restaurant is a some sort of Disneyland for themselves and their friends. THEY seem to be the worst as far as running it into the ground.

On BBCA they recently had one where Ramsay went to France and totally had this idiot girl, who used Daddy's money to start the restaurant, set up to run a great place. 6 weeks later he returns and it had closed down. The daughter didn't even have the balls to talk to Ramsay about it (showed up late, left early). Ramsay was apologizing to the father for having such an ungrateful daughter.

Best thing - the new chef the father had brought over from England, Ramsay ended up hiring in one of his restos :) So the stupid spoiled brat had a chef that was good enough for Ramsay and she still screwed it up.

They filmed a couple of Episodes here in Jersey not too far from my house too. I heard about it too late or i would have gone over to checkout the filming, i love Chef Ramseys food and would have loved to meet him.

But my fav chef is still Anthony Bourdain, im totally addicted to his show.

I think they did 2-3 on Long Island last season. I'm going to head back over there tomorrow and talk to them. see if my wife and I can get in om opening night. i figure being i live right here and i ate there over 2 years ago before it went to shit. i may have a shot. if i do i'll get pics and shit. I can't believe how many people and trucks ( rental trucks .. i would think they would have their own trucks to move equipment ) they have to film this show. and they are right next to the building but i'm sure by some tv magic we'll never see them on the show. i can't wait to see how it looks on tv after seeing it every day.

Michaelious 02-05-2008 05:15 AM

No Reservations is probably my favorite show on TV right now.

Ross 02-05-2008 07:12 AM

Just watched an episode of Kitchen Nightmares this morning from Sebastians in LA. The owner was a fucking idiot.

Gordon Ramsay is Scottish and used to be a professional Soccer player before getting a bad injury that stopped him playing. Thats when he went to France to learn to be a Chef. Good career choice I think, he's probably earned 20 times more than he ever would as a soccer player in those days.
