JuiceMonkey 02-04-2008 11:12 AM

is it a virtual account or dedicated server? I'm assuming virtual?

JuiceMonkey 02-04-2008 11:56 AM

double post..

Violetta 02-04-2008 12:38 PM

what host?

severe 02-04-2008 12:43 PM

99.9% uptime technically = ~10 hours of downtime / year

99.5 > 1 day

not that most places that say 99.9% are down that often on such a consistent basis...

mn 02-04-2008 12:52 PM

if it's not some server issues ask for a refund and move to a new place NOW.

D 02-04-2008 12:55 PM

It would seem they fell short of their guarantee.

not really. doesnt seem like they got anywhere close. most seem 5 mins at a time. 99.9% uptime is an actual figure. all hosting providers who say 99.9% retain a margin for 9-10hrs of downtime / year and no one is gonna give you 100% uptime guarantee.

personally i would just call em and tell and ask whats up. if ur not happy with what they say or with what your getting then move.

directfiesta 02-06-2008 05:34 PM

Down again now :

[2008-02-06] 20:06 - more info..

26 minutes and counting...

I hope the owner of the site will move it to someone else ....

J B 02-06-2008 05:39 PM

I would move hosts if I had a fraction of that down time :2 cents:

rowan 02-06-2008 05:39 PM

An uptime "guarantee" is fairly worthless because most hosts will only credit you the maximum of one month's fee. (And maximum would only be if they were down for hours and hours...)

30 mins of downtime could cost you significantly more than the 20 bucks you get off your next bill. :2 cents:

LiveDose 02-06-2008 06:05 PM

No, especially not on multiple days...

StarkReality 02-06-2008 06:11 PM

If january wasn't better, I'd tend to say: RUN, RUN, RUN, as fast as you can. If a problem persists more than a MONTH and the host is unable to fix it it can only mean two things:

1. They suck and are in the wrong business
2. They give a fuck and only care for their wallet, not for their customers

Acceptable ? Maybe back in 1997...

Evil E 02-06-2008 07:17 PM

Not at all. I've been running on 100% uptime at my web hosting company since I use them(besides a problem with the last server that would reboot randomly, but I got another server and it has been fixed since) which is 8 months.

Tempest 02-06-2008 08:04 PM

Well maybe the site wasn't accessable.... but was the server up during that time... loophole in the 99.9% "uptime" guarantee as it often refers to the server being up and running as opposed to the site being accessable...

I'd double check with a different service.. For all you know it's uppanel.com that's having a problem.

If it's the host, then it's not acceptable.

minddust 02-06-2008 08:38 PM

they are top notch

CIVMatt 02-06-2008 08:41 PM

99.9 is a marketing scam, I have yet to see any host do that with accessable UPTIME, just cuz ther servers powered up doesn't count

Nope.. Uppanel monitors many of MY servers and client sites... such as this one:

[2008-01-15] 00:20 - 00:36 more info..
[2007-10-02] 00:03 - 00:04 more info..

Anyway, the guy is moving on one of my virtual boxes .
