Tim Sylvia Loses to Nogueira

3rd round submission.

starpimps 02-02-2008 10:20 PM

that was badass, thought for sure he was gonna lose

Lance69 02-02-2008 10:20 PM

Big Nog pulled a beautiful sweep to get Tim on his back and slipped the Guillotine deep. Very Slick both him and Mir against powerful opponents. This was a great night for BJJ.

Bojangles 02-02-2008 10:25 PM

Definitely. I thought Sylvia was going to win, Nogueira never lost his cool and fought him smart. He won.

aztecboi2003 02-02-2008 10:27 PM

Nogueira always starts out slow. He gets his ass handed to him for a bit before he gets it in gear and knuckles up.

VeriSexy 02-02-2008 10:27 PM

What an awesome comeback!

Lance69 02-02-2008 10:30 PM

Anyone notice Chris Lytles opponent pulled guard on the ref after being saved? :1orglaugh

If I may old friend. :)

Nog went for a step over armbar which Tim defended and went on his knees, to which Minotauro went for a guillotine. :)

It was high level BJJ.

BTW...

Former Pride Fighters hold 3 out of the 5 UFC Belts.

Anderson Silva - MW UFC CHAMP
Rampage Jackson - LHW UFC CHAMP
Minotauro - UFC HW CHAMP

It was a BJJ clinic, with the guillotine being the submission of choice.

Nate vs Gumby (Horn) Mardquadt by guillotine
Almeida won by guilliotine
Nog won by Guiolltone

It's pretty obvious to me that Fedor isn't the only guy left for Handy.

Yeah, Handy has alot of competition in the UFC before thinking of Fedor.

Who knows, maybe one day Handy will honor his contract.

Spot on as usual, I just thought the way he went from under Tim to on top of him was really slick. I'm pretty sure Tim was confused as hell. Either way a good night of fights. :thumbsup

That was just a basic half-guard sweep.

You probably learn that the first week of BJJ class but take years to master.

Yah, three sweeps I learned as a white. The half guard sweep, the white belt killer aka hip bump, and the scissors sweep. All basic, and all work when applied right.

I find if I get that position, to try and sell a knee bar so they shift their weight off that leg and on the posting leg. So when I sweep with my upper leg, they are off balance. It's a 50/50 chance of pulling it off for me, but when it works, it's sweet. When it doesn't, I get oppurtunies to pass under, or go for the knee bar.
