Class Action Lawsuit against Visa

I just read up on Visa's new regs regarding IPSP's and am quite disgusted. However, there is a class action lawsuit against them for just this kind of thing. Still, I do believe that it will take an act of Congress to bring them to down.

I think this could be good because the problem with online transactions is that using CC's is pretty much your only option. There needs to be a more secure and reliable method of paying for 'services' online that protects merchants from fraud. I'm thinking that it will come in the form of some new micro payment like prepaid phone cards. But you would still need to physically go out and buy a 'porn card' and then it would have to be accepted universally.

Right now I think the only reasonable option is paypal but others (hopefully) will emerge in the near future.

Good luck sueing god.

Class action suit?

People don't buy porn cards...period!

chodadog 10-04-2002 10:33 AM

A new billing method is on the way. Brad just won't tell us what it is yet!

Paypal or Firepay might be a better option. Ask the Casinos.

FATPad 10-04-2002 10:35 AM

What exactly are you going to sue them for?

I didn't mean that we would be sueing them. There is a class action lawsuit that was submitted on behalf of all merchants that accept Visa.

Okay. What are all these merchants going to be suing Visa for?

Exactly. Law suits always make me laugh.

chodadog 10-04-2002 11:04 AM

I'm sure they'll come up with some funky legal terminology. Impairing their right to accept visa credit cards. bwahaha. Who knows.

For what?

cherrylula 10-04-2002 11:14 AM

I posted a bunch of links to this shit yesterday.

Walmart and a bunch of stores have been trying to sue Visa and Mastercard for years now because of those fucking debit cards. Basically its more expensive for the stores to process sales with those cards than a normal credit card with a visa/mc logo on it, and because they are not given an option to OPT OUT of accepting those cards and are being forced to use them and pay more they claim this is unfair.

Visa is trying to overthrow the American Dollar, and the US Gov is not too thrilled about it either.

Let me find the links.

Because they make all merchants take ATM cards.... and the fraud with them... you don't have to have a Sig. with a ATM card... and the merchants are taking in the shorts. And Visa say's they HAVE to take them ATM's

abuse of monopoly, fraud, etc

twinkley 10-04-2002 11:18 AM

Ideally, what we need is a "digital signature" option, so that we can prove all sales (the way reg. mainstream merchants do). Our chargebacks would drop dramatically, then we could all get our own merchant accounts :)

A couple years ago we came home pissy drunk at like 5 am, I had trouble locating my keys and managed to drop my entire wallet, right out front of my home.

By 7 am some fucker was using my bank/debit card two fucking blocks away gassing up his car. Unreal.

Yeah FUCK Visa and their stupid fucking regulations. Protect the consumer my ass.

I still did not get all my money back and they don't give a fuck. I am livid even having to think back to that day. They wanna put their fucking "safety" regulations on me, they have something bad coming their way.

:BangBang:

Kick Ass 10-04-2002 11:23 AM

digital signature is good idea !

FlyingIguana 10-04-2002 11:55 AM

credit cards should have passwords like debit cards...

Okay, if you have a Debit card, and use the DEBIT option, you have to have a pin #. If the merchant runs it like a credit card, they have to have the signature on the sales draft. Only those places that dont require a signature for the sale (i.e. gas stations) should have that problem. Otherwise, Wal Mart needs signatures or the PIN # on those transactions.
