So, were do you go for good hosting?

I'm tired of dealing with hosting companies. Who do you guys recommend for good dedicated server that has a fast connection, lots of bandwith and a reasonable price?

i'd rather hear your personal experiences rather than promotion for your hosting company. I'm sure your service is great but I'm trying to avoid conflict of interest. :thumbsup

Please let me know you're experiences, good or bad, thanks!

ServerGenius 02-01-2008 06:49 AM

In no particular order: Natnet, VirtualXS, Reflected, MojoHosting, Isprime, phatservers, OC3networks....are the first that come to mind

posh rat in hell 02-01-2008 07:41 AM

The only hosts I personally trust are ISPrime and National-Net.

If you are large and/or growing, having a premium host can be much more helpful than a no-frills host.

Roby 02-01-2008 08:57 AM

i can advice only mccolo.com host.

We have been with National Net the last 8 years, they are simply the best. Just ask around, I have never heard a complaint about them. They are simply outstanding!!!

I have a dedi with mojohost and I've been very happy. I'm in no way affiliated nor do i get paid to vouch for them. I'm just a happy customer and would not hesitate to recommend. My well being depends on my sites being up and being accessible and I'm not planning to switch, so there you have it. Talk to Brad, he'll hook you up with custom solution. Did that for me, meeting exactly what I needed. Couldn't be happier :)

I posted a similar thread like 3 years ago and was recommended to TechieMedia by a bunch of people. I gave them a try and since that move I have never had to think about hosting again. I have a load balancer and several servers and do around 300 ish megs and these guys simply rock plain and simple. The owners are some old school guys that know their shit about hosting and are a pleasure to work with.:2 cents::2 cents:

SpeakEasy 02-01-2008 04:04 PM

I have heard good things 1st hand about natnet, TechieMedia, Isprime and mojo.:2 cents: Most of the others all have bad reps if you listen to real people and not board whores.:2 cents:

This is a no brainer, for Quality Hosting with competitive prices and Superior Support you need to talk to the guys at TechieMedia !!! I do some serious bandwidth with them and have never had any issues in the many years with them. These guys are on top of their game.:2 cents::2 cents:

Well After so many years of flawless hosting I will have to say www.techiemedia.com is one of the absolute best hosts I've ever dealt with. Prices are very good and the support can't be touched by anyone period. If you are serious about having Quality hosting then you need to talk to these guys.:2 cents::thumbsup

Ditto the experience with Techiemedia. Of couse with that bw (assume you're saying 300Mbps) any host should treat you like gold!

From my reseach - TechieMedia and NatNet are on the A list for sure.

I have a single server at TechieMedia right now. Something tells me they treat me as well as Afrin even given the difference in billing. I wouldn't hesitate giving Jim a call. I can see growing with them.

I just moved to PacificRack and couldn't be happier. Definitely worth taking a look.

I'm very happy with Techie Media They helped me with the move from Likewhoa years ago and since then I haven't looked back. Quality hosting and if you need anything the support is very fast.

zigx 02-02-2008 01:31 PM

Personal experience:

Two days ago i asked about PW protecting a directory for a members area... response i get back is gigantic...
colo-cation.com breaks it down how i can do it using just simple apache, gives me all the .htaccess rules i need..

goes into IPROT, the apache module...

then goes into phantom frog's protection capabilities.

All of which he provided a summary, and pros/cons of Each. this is what i think makes a good host... someone with experience who can provide themselves as a resource for you to utilize in building ur biz.

Snake Doctor 02-02-2008 02:01 PM

Do a search on here for techie media and see what people have to say.

In threads like these you'll get alot of spammers and sigwhores and people who work for a company but post in threads like these under a fake nick.

But do a search and see how many people start threads bitching about this hosting company and that one....and notice the lack of Techie Media in those threads. (And they've been around for several years so it's not like they're newbs that people haven't started bitching about yet either)

Snake Doctor 02-02-2008 02:06 PM

Something else I'd like to mention.

People who say they've "never had a problem" with this host or that one aren't very good references, because they've just been lucky.

The real question is when you do have a problem (because you inevitably will...hardware fails, databases crash, routers and switches break, etc) how do they handle the problem?

How fast are they to respond to your needs and do they have enough competent people on staff 24 hours a day to handle whatever might come up? Or is it just one guy with a pager?

Deej 02-02-2008 02:15 PM

first hand quality experience with http://www.Mojohost.com always on the ball! ive never waited for anything...

i know OC3 and natnet are top of the line as well...

if you want good service with a some SEO knowhow along with your hosting... check out http://www.gotwebhost.com ...

if you want to not be bothered and have decent cheap service... try hostgator.com

sue 02-02-2008 02:41 PM

Snake Doctor,

I totally agree. When I say never had a problem I refer to the fact that there never is a problem getting support. There is no host around that can guarantee a problem free environment, but there are hosts who always have great people working there taking care of your problems within minutes. That, in my opinion is "never had a problem with our host".

*hugs and kisses*

This is very true. Problems will always happen, some just cannot be prevented. Its like buying a new car and expecting to never have car trouble, it doesn't happen. What matters is how quickly and properly the problem is corrected.

Special thanks to all of you that recommended Phat Servers. We appreciate your continued support.

Ray, I would love to talk with you about the various solutions I can provide you. Please feel free to ICQ me at 147479144 to fully discuss your specific needs.
