First marijuana vending machines opened in Los Angeles - vid

Video

Jan. 30 - The first marijuana vending machines have opened in Los Angeles allowing those with legal medical prescriptions easy access to the drug.

The machines can only be used by patients who are prescribed marijuana for health reason. California is one of 11 US states that allows the medicinal use of marijuana - a practice barred by federal law.

TroubleTonya 01-30-2008 12:58 PM

The video says they have on guard security 24/7. Very interesting actually. Go California. :)

Miss Munki 01-30-2008 01:04 PM

I don't really think they're necessary, seems a little excessive, but right on:thumbsup

I like to see, smell, observe what I'm buying before actually putting money down on it. I guess it's a good idea for those times that are past hours and I just need a bowl or two.

Good point, at certain times "beggars can't be choosers" :)

notoldschool 01-30-2008 01:51 PM

its a shame that everyone has to be excluded from their right to enjoying a natural plant. Its insane that people make a big deal about a harmless if not helpfull plant, yet you can get mass amounts of VERY DANGEROUS shit like Ambien, Prednizone, Oxtcoton, blah, blah, blah...and fucking idiots act like that shits ok...LOL...so much for a smart or free country.

In a good way or a bad way?
I don't see the feds trending like Cali. I'd be happy if they just decriminalized - but I def don't want to go get a prescription or be printed and pictured just to get it.

When I was running my co-op in norcal before the feds went medieval on my ass the local sheriff whom I was on good terms with asked me to make sure I kept my prices near street prices to ensure I was not supporting a black market as a favor. Since our initial plans where to start it off in the 5.00 a gram range which still would of made it pretty damn hard to stay non profit without inflating peoples salaries and that is even with compensating others who could not even afford those prices.

Since technically still by law you can not sell it for a profit and can only be reasonably compensated for your costs.

These machines are going to open up a whole new can of worms though. As it stands technically in CA right now you must have the official state issued card which by the way this year they just raised the prices on and you must renew it each year via the state. Currently it is just a doctors prescription filled out on a state form that you take to a county office whom takes your money and takes your picture, then has your card available to be picked up in a few days (2-4 days usually, fastest state turn around I have seen on anything). Oh and if you have medi-cal you only pay half the price.

Though on the same form it also states how many patients a caregiver can have at one time. Caregivers also get an identical card though as the patients. Minors need caregivers or parental cards as well. Now if I recall the state program said that a caregiver can only have 3 patients. Then they must of course follow health and safety code 11362.77 which means like a half pound per patient at any given time of dried marijuana, and 6 mature plants or twelve immature plants. Now this would be a total of 24 ounces of dried pot, and 18 mature plants of which one would be a mother. Now of course a county can enact a law or regulation that alters the amount a caregiver may posses but not how many patients according to the current laws.

Now of course there is nothing at all stopping the Federal Government from subpeoning the records of those who maintain a state card, sure the state could try to fight it but that shit wont fly. Yet my little form I filled out has very little personal information on it aside from a DOB and my name. Sure they check your id but they do not scan it and so forth. However as I understand it those nifty machines charging a bundle acting as caregivers for more than 3 patients also require finger prints and your card. So I would see no problem with the Feds just picking up or I guess arresting the machine itself.

Sorry just having been one of the few who faced the giant known as the United States of America Vs your ass, I really would be fearful of those damn machines. Not to mention the fucking prices, hell I felt sick as shit selling it for almost 20.00 a gram to sick people. I actually wished I would of forgotten to get my official stickers on my scales so I could dispense more than I was supposed to but hell it was all so damn new and I was crossing every t and dotting every i, even had my ass file for a state resell license and when they rejected me I went down there and would not leave until they put it into writing why they would not issue me a resell permit so that I could collect sales tax. Even being a NPO.

Very Intresting. So I assume you don't sell marijuana any more.
$100 per 1/8 is very expensive. I thought they were doing this to control/lower the prices :Oh crap

Haha no I no longer sell it anymore. Technically I never did, I was not a caregiver I just charged with conspiracy. I just ran the damn thing. Caregivers were assigned at that time 10 patients each as there was no listed limit yet. The caregivers worked and "owned X" number of plants each. From there it was dispensed, turned into tonics, capsules, or food items and sold to the patients.
My main jobs was foremost security, then confidential records storage, background checks on caregivers, and then dealing with the financials. Which was the hardest part by the way. Caregivers were paid, supplies purchased, bills paid, all that BS but it still left to much damn money. So we started donating cash to shelters, food banks, and all that we could that would remain local.

pr0 02-01-2008 12:52 AM

this is a dumb move....

DO NOT PROMOTE INNOVATIONS

the less news about cali's legal marijuana....the longer it will continue to go on legally

that guy is a fucking thorn in the side of the legit medical MJ industry
