Outsourcing Java programmer?

Hi all,

Any comments or experience on outsourcing for Java programmers? I am considering iWebmasters, located in the Philippines. I am hiring for a full-time permanent position, not just a contract.

Any and all replies are appreciated!

Hi Blackdog, We are operating an offshore staff leasing company. Our office is based here in Manila, the Phils. We have a Java programmer on board and available for deployment. Looking forward to hear from you :)

I personally would outsource scripting languages like perl, php, etc. Java requires the entire source and application be transferred and if you consider the application a trade secret, I'd reconsider using outsourcing.

My 2 cents as a developer at least...

Thanks for the advice. Anyone else care to share their experience outsourcing programmers, particularly Java?

Wiredguy is right. Java shouldn't be outsourced. Find someone local... and if possible hire him directly on your staff.

A good Java programmer well versed in AJAX is invaluable now a days anyway.
