What business? 15 day cut-off notice
The electric company will give you 30 days notice before they cut you off.
Even if you don't make your car or house payment they let you have 30-60 days. But 15 days? We have 15 days to pay up or shut doors to Visa and our rebills. Sure we will pay it, because we make a living of it. And its no use to cry over it, but I am bitching anyway! Why the short notice? Well simple!!!! MONEY Imagine this - 3 month notice about the fee. first I would remove the account which charges and move to a biller which doesn't. second I would email all our members and give them a hell off a deal with the new billing company if they are willing to cancel and sign up again! However this takes time, it take me about uhm 3 month and most everything would have been switched. NO way I can do that in 15 days, even If I would start pushing now into my merchant account remove ccbill et al. Very smart move to only give us 15 days, Very smart, no leaks, nothing on the boards, the rumour started and within days it was confirmed. Business as usual :2 cents: CCbill said on the phone that they don't know about Mastercard following suite, but where there is money to be made they are going to stand in line. Going to plan 2 now! Geez!! |
Alot of us are sharing the same sentiments steffie.... not much time in which to gather information and make snap decisions. Especially when trying to get information on this is like trying to pull a fat chick out of a Miata.

Imagine what all the international paysite owners are going through right now. Not only do they have to pay up, but they have to register a company in the US and setup a US bank account. Good luck!

I have been on the phone with Germany all day (urgh my phone bill). some of my friends bill with ccbill are sitting there and in england!
They got them at the balls, no doubt they will loose their rebills when they go with swiss bank international. Most of us have that bank as a backup processor, so do I. But again, were screwed on our rebills. So I just had to bitch and cry, not that its worth a freaking dime, but still, I pay my fee, I move to my swiss account and just keep them rebills. Last I heard is CCbill is trying to work something out with England, I hope they can it would save a lot of my amateur friends ass! |

I've heard that it is possible to get a "high risk" merchant account in the UK.
|
I still don't understand why we are just now hearing about this?
Surely ibill, ccbill, and epoch heard about it the same time that globill did. How has globill hammered out a game plan, set up offshore and added staff and we just now hear about this? You guys knew this would have an enormous effect on us especially foreign webmasters. Why at the first sign of trouble were we not advised? |
lets start a revolt and just throw porn at everyone!

Just curious - when did Nov. 15th minus Oct. 3rd equal 15 days?
|
I was thinking the same thing, Carrie.
The forms are supposed be mailed to us on the 8th then we have till Novemebr to get them filled in and sent to the processors. Thats my understanding.. |

steffie has a good point about the notification period.
If I were in a position to lose money in this thing, I would definitely be seeking legal advise about the fact that the processors did not give adequate time for some people to set up US stuff to keep their rebills. I would be on the phone with visa so fast, or someone, and making a HUGE fuss about the short notice. Not sure how international laws would work in this case, but you can bet if I were losing big digits I would be doing all I can to get my monies back. Not to mention discovering that ccbill *still* processes underage sites is making me run like hell from their services forever.... why would I take advice from a company that exploits children like that. Like hell I am going to give them any money or any more info... When operation "No-lita" busts their balls I want no part of it with my teen sites. Its no wonder VISA wants a list of url's they bill for.... no fucking wonder. Among other things. I do hope whatever happens it brings some more scumbags down and betters the industry for us honest webmasters. |
Does anyone else have an official something from Visa? It seems strange that something like this would happen, that CCBIll, Epoch, Paycom and Globill have had advanced warning, and nothing has been said about it. my biller (websitebilling) only mentioned "new visa regulations" in a casual e-mail, still hasnt come out with an e-mail to me.
Any good lawyers want to look into a class action suit? Sure, it would take forever, but it would give Visa a "we arent going to lie down and take this" effort. For the payment to have to be made by November 15th is a hard effort for some paysite owners. for NO ONE but three billing companies to not say anything until 1.5 months before that date? They obviously have had previous word from this. Anyone from CCBill care to post the memo from Visa? Or where we may be able to find the official word on their site? |
