Getting out of a digg ban?

so, digg banned me, and I can't get out of it

they have me set so the login page goes blank and when I click http://www.digg.com/register it takes me to the home page

I am blocked

I have gotten a new ip and also cleared ALL digg cookies

wtf?

I got banned for posting a link to a article about porn, it sucks!

zigx 01-27-2008 03:10 PM

just contact them about it and say it wont happen again.

zigx 01-27-2008 03:12 PM

also... u should def contact them bc from my experience even if you create a new user name ur fucked.. they will ban the IP...

then if you goto a new location... try to login with the banned user name..THAT ip will be banned... even if you try to login from the newly created name.

i will drop them an email....i guess I have just become accustomed to huge companies like that not caring about users emailing them

zigx 01-27-2008 03:13 PM

lol i have barely slept this weekend...if what i said makes sense to you then there is something wrong with one of us lol

yeah... i know what you mean.

i got banned about a year ago... i just emailed them and confessed, said it wont happen again... and they actually unbanned my ass lol.

of course i stopped trying what got me banned just out of respect for being granted a second change.

You might wanna try submitting to reddit or mixx

imo digg is going down hill for quality submissions

Fap 01-27-2008 03:17 PM

I submit to them all, digg brings the most traffic and google notices it fastest IMO, which is why I like it so much...but in long term link building there are definitely better sites

What exactly can get you banned? Posting adult articles, as it seems from thsi thread. And what else? What should a guy refrain from to not get banned?

SexualDragon 01-27-2008 04:03 PM

get someone to register a name for you (not me):winkwink:

yeah, I didn't even post links to nudity or anything, it was an adult article....one pic on the blog was a girl in her underwear, but nothing explicit

I called Kevin Rose one time when i found a very old resume of his floating around the internet. That guy must have had the same phone number for 100 years. He was an extremely nice guy.

SmokeyTheBear 01-31-2008 11:52 PM

if you changed your ip and cleared cookies i dont see how they could be banning you . ( well theres a few other ways but i highly highly doubt they would use these just for a simplemis"digged" article

i submit porn pages to digg all the time , never had a problem with them

I tried everything else, and eventually changing my mac address was the only way to get around it

I did recieve a letter back from them though, it turns out the blog I linked to had a porn link on it leading to a hardcore site, and a member complained...LOL

they also released the ban, i am back up

Uh... I'm trying to understand how a web site could see your MAC address? That information would be lost as soon as the packet leaves a LAN.

Assuming this isn't a joke :), it's possible that changing the MAC address caused your ADSL (?) ISP to assign you a new IP address... but MACs certainly don't get passed halfway around the world...

Some isps assign static ips based on the router mac address... so if you change the mac address it'll think that you're a new customer and give you a new ip
