The best hard rock album of the 80's - "Apetite for destruction" kills it.

They were the last true sex drugs n rock n roll band to me and their music or lyrics was real and not silly..

Judas Priest rocked harder than gnr, and halford was a faget. gnr sucks....

Not only are they not THE BEST, they are not even "one of the best" ever. But for that period of time for rock and roll, they did alright and will get notes in the music history books. If for nothing else, because Axel was a fuck up.

I'm not saying that because I don't like them, because I LOVED them for a while. I'm just saying in the grand scale of music history, not the best ever.

QFTT they were the poster boys for all that was wrong with hair bands, no hair band can possibly make a top 10 BEST of anything.

Of all the hair bands they are certainly one of the best. They had no originality, they were simply doing what was popular at the time.

Velvet Revolver on the other hand ROCKS! (mainly because its GNR minus the hair and douche of a frontman with much more refined everything)

Great bands define an era and GNR certainly does that. I'm not the biggest fan of Nirvana, but they hit the right chords when it counted.

I personally like David a big time, because of his smart personality and I believe he made INCREDIBLE amount of work to put VAN HALEN on the map.

Can listen to all the line ups without having to hassle with my brain though.

Right on, I never doubted the incredible impact that Beatles had on the pop culture of the 20th century, but if I was alive at that time, I would be a serious The Who fan.

They were more contraversial, their texts were smarter, they were heavier and they were fun.

The same as Jerry Lee Lewis vs. Elvis - I like Elvis but Jerry Lee ROCKS a big time, the killer could kick more ass and we will never know who would be THE no.1 (especially once Elvis got a bit less hansome and moved to Vegas), unfortunately, he got into his wild marriage..

Needless to mention the Who were also one of the best LIVE bands of its time and could put on some incredible performances (see Woodstock that's the easiest to get).

"Hype!" documentary that describes the Seattle and Northern West Coast scene in a very relaxed yet informative way, I have seen that on German cable long time ago and had a chance to check that recently again.

The soundtrack is great too - many bands that kicked ass never made it medially big as Soundgarden, Nirvana, Alice or Pearl Jam.

I personally found "The Gits" via this documentary and it's a long term relationship for sure.

GnR had one great rock album appetite but look at there legacy I mean every band there members have spawned have been mediocre at best. I cannot believe I am the first to mention The Yardbirds I mean that band only spawn three of the greatest guitarist to ever live and were really the innovators of feedback and distortion

Guns 'N Roses is nice.

while I do love GnR I would have to say there are many bands more deserving of the title "Best rock band ever"

Guns N' Roses ... the 80's and 90's rock machine ... was superb. Simply the most incredible rock band ever. No... Led Zep aren't. No... The Who aren't ... No ... The Beatles (some call them rock) ... no ... none of those bands.
