Need advice - setting up a blog site

I am thinking about setting up some blog sites for some of the Mistresses who are in my videos. What's the best way do that? Should I use someone like typepad.com, or should I get a blog script of some sort and load it on my server?

Anyone have any good advice?

Regards,

I heard wp can be a resource hog, Im going to do a bunch of them.Does it pay to get a virtual account for them, instead of slowing down my server?

WP can be a resource hog if you have a ton of blogs and/or a ton of traffic, but usually optimizing MySQL will take care of it.

We have a dozen virtual servers and I would venture to say that they all have dozens of WP blogs along with other sites on them and no problem.

Thank you

However, if you are going to do many blogs and use them to link to your main sites, you should put them on different C's.

WordPress if you are doing an SEO play or light traffic volume... it doesn't play well in its default config with super high volume unless you really know what you are doing.

More what you have to worry about on virtual hosting accounts is what the other people on your server are running.

My Wordpress install was no hog when I was on a virtual account, but was loading up completely blank pages randomly. The hosting company insisted that I had set up my permissions incorrectly, while I insisted that the server must be under some heavy traffic.

When I moved to a dedicated server, same permissions set up, I haven't had a blank page since.

If your host isn't paying attention.

I've heard that Wordpress is a hog too, but I have yet to see this. I have forty small new blogs that are running fine on a single dedicated server.

If you use Wordpress I highly recomend a little bit of software called Blog Desk. Think of it like a M$ Word program that allows you to write you posts and upload them. I never ever log into Wordpress these days. The program allows you to size and crop photos, as well as makes thumbnails. Best of all it's free: http://www.blogdesk.org/en/index.htm

Hit me up on ICQ and I'll gladly show you our blog network and try to help with any questions you have.

first thing I would do if I were you is set up blogs for each of the girls that are willing to update them regularly, and set them up either like:

erika.meanbitches.com

or

blog.erikavution.com

and have the girls update them every day, like a diary....shit, even have a low level employee update them like it is the girls

as far as loads go, I used to have all kinds of issues with resources and shit like that, then I moved to nationalnet where they apparently they know what the fuck they are doing WAY more than anyone else, and my server loads stay SO low, even with 200+ blogs running with consistent traffic

200 blogs on one dedicated server is not much. :2 cents:

oh, i know it isn't, but you might try telling that to a certain few other hosts around gfy...dedicated or virtual, it seems 90% of hosts that advertise on gfy have no clue how to optimize a server properly

I have seen virtuals run 2000 blogs with a solid hosting company and not blink, and I have seen dedicated boxes run 100 blogs with a gfy "bro" hoster and they can't keep the box up for more than an hour at a time

it is sad :(

Expression Engine is the best blog software, besides that Blogs Organizer is good to if you like it quick and easy

Wow! Good response to this one... I appreciate the help, everyone. Thanks for looking out for us! I'll install Wordpress and give it a shot.

Cleo, I didn't go to the show... You know me. It takes a lot to get me to leave my cave. :) I never go to any shows anymore.
