I remember studying the 9/11 response at University here and comparing it to how Australian protocol would dictate the situation *should* be managed. Unfortunately on 9/11 many brave men bolted up the stairs, rather than waiting for a proper base command to be established and a more informed decision to be made about a response.

Yeah could've keep himself and the rest of the new york city government directly in the path of destruction "for some reason". Or, like he wisely chose to do, he did his fucking job and preserved the continuity of the NYC government and pulled out.

As far as i'm aware if you aren't a trained fireman you'd be in everyones way, or be at risk yourself so he kinda has to be away from danger.

Thats not my point. My point is if you lived in NY under Dinkins and saw the damage he did to the city you would realize how good of a leader guiliani is. He came into a really bad fucked up situation much like our government is in now. He made NY safe for families, got people working again, held NY together under the worst terrorist attack on US soil.

It's easy to be a monday morning quarterback and dis on him for this or that but plain and simple NY is better off after having him as leader then before.

Not 100% sure if the radio issue is true or not but 5 Blocks from the south tower isnt very far. I've walked 5 blocks from the WTC, takes only a few minutes in good weather. Holy shit what did you want the Mayor and city managers to do? Did he want the city leaders to stand in debris and in a building that was damaged, no water, electrical, or phone service? Sounds like that kind of person who suffers and wants everyone to suffer with him. If I was going to run, I think I would atleast run 6 blocks.
