How I fixed my broken Seagate Barracuda HDD - useful tech guide
Some time ago I got my Seagate Barracuda 350Gb broken because of jammed spindle. A guy from a tech service told me it's a serious problem and it would cost me about $1.5K to fix it in case if such an operation will be successful (he denied to guarantee that). He told me they need to disassemble it in special hermetic camera in order to move the magnetic disks to another HDD of a same type.
Now what I did. Do you remember that Russian guy from "Armageddon" the movie? I did... the same thing he he always did in critical situation when some device refused to work. I hit my HDD's lateral face up the floor. And the motor launched!
Actually I don't need that Seagate shit anymore and have no will to use it in future because it could jam again at anytime. But I was able to transfer all the important info to another drive! :)
