they have professionals to help you setting up and customizing
you can of course write your own...but that takes time...money and mindshare

You can't go wrong with MAS

I use Xtract, but it's pretty much obsolete. The author has a completely new script in the works, that should be done shortly.

After much money wasted on *cheap* and custom CMS's I went with www.elevatedx.com and have not been happier. I should have used them from the start. It is stable, scalable, and has more than enough features to make me happy for years. Good people behind the product also.
