The crash scene was brutal.

Death Proof will go down as a cult classic for those who are into this type of flick. i for one fucking LOVED the movie. Even though it had an extremely slow start. I think Planet Terror was the far better half of the Grindhouse duo though.
I PRAY THAT THEY MAKE MACHETE INTO A REAL MOVIE EVERY NIGHT!!!!! |

QT fucked you all the way to the hilt dude. no way in hell could he have made that piece of shit without resting on his reputation. we'll see if they ever let him make another movie after that one. |
I thought they were both boring pieces of shit .. actually liked how it was shot and being a producer do understand how difficult and fun it would have been to make both movies look 70's quality .... but acting, plot and over all take on the shit bags was a fucking 1 1/2 for me .. had a better time routing through my popcorn for the most buttery piece ..

the whole point was that the stories were supposed to be sub-par, the acting crap, the effects cheesy, and the violence high and frequent. if you watched either of them expected an oscar performance you're an idiot. they were exactly what they were meant to be, and if you can't appreciate them for it, go rent 7 years in tibet or something. death proof got off to an extremely slow start, but the pay off was great. senselessly and unrealistic vehicular violence with a very thin plot, which ended in a fantastic chase scene. lots of blood, speed, crashing, exploding, flipping, and death. it was a perfect hommage to grindhouse features of the past, and the cinematography was great...

you can slap more words down that fucking war and piece if ya want but the reality is that there is no excuse for poor story telling and even worse film making. death proof is film making at it's lowest. plan B from outer space is a better film than death proof. everything I have selected from your post could have been laid into a REAL FUCKING STORY by an actual film maker. but don't worry QT won't come in your mouth and the checks in the mail.... and he only stuck the head in right? |

Planet terror was my favorite half of Grindhouse, but I enjoyed Death Proof as well. It was a great little valentine to the high octane car movies of the 60s and 70s with little nods to Two Lane Blacktop, Gone In 60 Seconds and Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry amongst others.
I can see where others wouldn't like it. If you don't have a softspot for trashy b-flicks, then you're probably not going to enjoy it as much as those of us who own more Roger Corman movies than some people have movies ;-) As I kept watching Death Proof, I kept thinking "Man, this feels like a Corman picture". As cool as Kurt Russell was as Stuntman Mike, I can't help but think how much better the flick would have been had Mickey Rourke stuck with the movie and played Stuntman Mike. The movie was admittedly talky and could have used another action setpiece, but most of Tarrantino's movies are dialog-heavy anyways... |

Oh and B, did you see that guy on here saying he can take SD and 'convert it' to HD. I'm keeping my eye on that. As far as I know, it can't be done but he claims he can. It's like going from VHS to DVD. You can upconvert it, resize it, sharpen it, and run every filter known to man on it, but it will never be DVD quality. As far as I knew HD was the same way. No matter what you do SD will never be better than SD. You'd need something that was shot on SD DigiBeta at the very least to even try a conversion like that, and most of the people I know that shoot SD shoot on just your average SD cam. (sorry.. didn't mean to go off on a tangent) uhm.. yeah I agree, it's boring, cool car crash, boring cool car chase. the end. |
i loved it!
|
i liked the first half of death proof. it could have ended with him in the hospital.
|
I think the dialogues were quite poor

you either like it or hate it, its one of those films that will only appeal to a certain audience.
I personally seen it and thought it was good, it was something different from all the fight, fuck and die type of action films. |
