they hired there old GM who brought in mats to begin with he also traded gilmour and wendel... I'm hoping he can trade sundin for some good young talent.

But for once our GM is also the President aswell, so peddie can't override anything, which was the problem.

About flipping time JFJ was fired.. he sucked cock! Hopefully Sundin is on the out and we can get some half ass prospects and some draft picks.

Of note:

Fletcher is coming in to be the interim GM for the rest of the season and will remain on for about another yr. as a senior advisor.

PEddie (current president and CEO) is starting the search, effective today, for a permenent GM and PRESIDENT. This is big news, because it essentially means that Peddie has relieved not only ferguson of his duties.. but himself as well.

He said, I quote "We are looking to find the next Brian Colangelo". Interesting that he would make a basketball reference, but it's big news because Colangelo came to the Raptors and basically told Peddie to fuck off and stay out of his business.

This is all good news for the future of the Leafs, giving the hockey team autonomy from the rest of the business.

Fletcher is also the one that destroyed the Leafs prospects. He banked on his beliefs that only vetrans win cups, and in doing so, traded tons of draft picks and prospects away for fogeys.

Either way, he should be better than Fergy. He made too many mistakes as GM and made the wrong acquitions. Banking 2mil a season on Raycroft? The goalie that had a fluke rookie season and is perhaps the most inconsistant of all?

Martin's right though... it'll be a few years still before you can consider the Leafs a contenter again.
