I'm a big fan of hacking in 90's movies and that cool 3d graphical environment they roam around in.

You get 'bullet time' by turning off the 'Turbo' button.

You know how hard it is to replace a good monitor? You gotta order a new one, wait a week, get the drivers, etc...

did that button actually connect to anything?

Elli 01-21-2008 03:51 PM

My favourite computer movie glitch is at the end of "Stand By Me," when the narrator finishes typing out his story, then stands up and turns off the computer without saving or anything! Ack!

Depends on how old it is. Most of the homebrew 386s and 486s had it connected, then programmed the LED to say stuff like 'HI' and 'Lo'. It was supposed to slow the internal processor to 8.77Mhz, same as the XT.

Vick! 01-21-2008 04:19 PM

lolz yeah .. thats funny shit.

your sig is not :(

Enemator 01-21-2008 04:30 PM

I love the way they insert a disk and a message on the screen pops up (supported by a female voice) saying: "Hacking password in progress. Password hacked."

And a virus is an actual monster on the screen.

Antonio 01-21-2008 04:50 PM

well, that's Hollywood for you, shooting the screen looks much better, imagine Arnold jumping on the hard drive with both feet

So *that's* what it did! My mom's 386DX had a Turbo button that didn't seem to do much, and I always wondered what it was for.

Klen 01-22-2008 10:39 AM

Speaking about disabling, same thing happening in countrstrike:source game-if you shot on box, nothing will happen, only if you shoot into monitor.

SayWhut 01-22-2008 10:41 AM

Wesley Snipes will fuck you up along with Stallone ...
