Some love Panasonics. I've never tried them. I've heard there is a steeper learning curve on them than the Sony's. That being said... DO NOT get a sony fx1 or 7. People seem to be liking the Sony HVR-V1U HDV. I've tried it out, It's definitely more compact, light and balanced than the fx1 plus better audio features. The Sony HVRZ1 is good too. The one that everyone is shitting themselves over right now is the "Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM EX SxS Pro HD Camcorder" but its cassete-less so some people are still not into that. suppose to be sick though. that's all i know and im not a pro so pro's will probably flame me for this review. if they do, they can suck it.

I prefer bigger cams. More weight, less shaky. Image stabalizers are nice but they can't pull of miracles. |
I have a Sony HDR-HC7. Thought I ordered a 5 when I bought it. It records to DV tape. Anything we've shot comes up looking amazing. It even takes still photos that come out pretty nice as well.
My mother bought the same one and got it for about $200 less just after Christmas. They carry this one at Best Buy. |
