HDDVD or Blu-Ray?
What's your preference?
I'm going to have to go with Blu-Ray. |
HD-DVD is dead
|
Blue Ray is the way of the future, IMHO at least.
|
Blu Ray FTW!
|
Microsoft threw in the towel and said that they will make a device to play BluRay on the XBOX...
Sony wins. |
My preference is HD-DVD, because I avoid supporting Sony where able.
But - at least right now - it does look like they've (Sony) won this bout. Sucks. |
Blu-Ray has all but hit the knock-out punch. Not only did they beat out HD DVD every week, even with the HD DVD player at $100 w/5 free movies...BUT... Warner Bros. is now Blu-Ray exclusive.
Best bet now is to get a PS3...it looks pretty sleek for a home entertainment system, and it plays games too :) |
There's been a lot of hype for both over the past few months, but when you start seeing a lot more Blu-Rays hitting the shelves at electronics stores, it starts to become obvious which format is winning the war.
|
hehe, I remember people hating on blu ray, telling the ps3 was a pos and blabla.
<3 sony |
Buuuh Buuuuh Buuuuh Blu-ray of course

I gave them 3 strikes before I called 'em out. not to mention - Sony, historically, tries to exclude porn. |

Blu-ray players are almost 10x more spread than hddvd over 70% of hollywood movies will be issued on blu-ray |

Blu-ray is a superior technology.
|
I have a hybrid player that cost me $600. I don't have to choose

I'm liking Blu-Ray on my PS3 anyway !! :thumbsup |
BlueRAY = only choice
|
bluray all the way. Sony has won. I have 2ps3's because I love blurays so much.
|

I figure Sony's not stupid enough to make the same mistake the made with Beta during the actual format war... but god knows what they're gonna do once there's no going back to HD-DVD. I'm surprised so many peeps here have been rooting for Sony, given Sony's history with this business. |
Actually blu ray is not a superior technology and it was almost 50 -50 the reason they jumped to blu ray was they were offered large chunks of money. Video technology hd boards are very informational :) My hd dvd uprezs so nice I dont didnt even watch hd dvd on it.

B) HD-DVD group gave Paramount $150 mil to go HD-DVD exclusive so tell Pot Kettle says he's black. C) 50 GB per disc > 30GB per disc now suck some more HD-DVD cock. |

This format war could have been solved with many combo players on the market ...

It's associated... the horse they were backing. For me, that's enough. I also don't love Apple, nor do I hate Microsoft... but thanks for playing. Get laid or something. You've had a stick up your ass the size of Shane's cock for at least the last year. |

Sure I should get laid more. Hell I should get laid period. Not much I can do about that now is there? Takes 2 to tango you know. Thanks for the advice though. |

online HD Movie downloads is the format winner IMO

Time Warner Cable to Test Internet Caps in Texas The operator plans to offer four different packages that would cap monthly data downloads at 5, 10, 20 or 40 Gigabytes, according to Time Warner Cable spokesman Alex Dudley. As of yet, there?s no unlimited option planned for the trial. Pricing has not been determined for the tiers, he said. http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6523660.html Don?t believe the low bit-rate ?HD? lie Standard definition 480i DVD movies are typically 5 to 8 mbps (megabits per second) MPEG-2 whereas these so-called HD wannabes weigh in at a pathetic 1.5 to 4 mbps of 720p H.264. Apple?s new HD service is capable of 4 mbps which simply isn?t enough to be considered HD. XBOX360 downloads are 6.8 mbps 720p VC-1 so they?re semi-decent borderline HD. Marketing will push the nicer sounding ?720p? aspect of the video but they don?t tell you it?s way too compressed to offer good video fidelity. Blu-ray has a maximum bit-rate of 40 mbps while HD DVD offers a maximum of 28 mbps. Over the air broadcasts can be up to 19.38 mbps though they?re typically between 16 to 19 mbps. http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/?p=959 |

(See what I did there?) You quoted me. What else was I to think? Even if you were speaking in generalities, you were - at the very least -motioning to me as an example of that generality. Not expecting me to take your words as anything but directed to me doesn't seem... very bright. Regardless - you weren't directing that "ignorant" shit to me... I guess... so no point in beating a dead horse. And good luck in the "getting laid" thing - it really does take the edge off. |

Don't agree - I receive Sky HD TV through my ADSL connection and BBC HD together with the HD Movie Channels are stunning. My ADSL is 21 mbs, but the Sky HD TV pushes 3mps, so I'm getting this low quality crappy 720p then. But it's perfectly fine for me... |

Btw, when does Selina18.com go live? |
I have not tried a bluray yet

Bought a PS3, watched my first blue ray movie on it, on my new 47 1080i samsung lcd... WOW... Had no idea, My wife even commented that it looked so real it seemed fake... lol. PLUS the bonus of being able to play games on it... nice. Elder Scrolls rocks.
|
Everybody associates Sony with Blue-ray simply because the PS3 is the only player selling for it just like most people think of HD-DVD as being mainly backed by Msoft whereas Toshiba has done most of the heavy lifting.
The PS3 if it would have really failed would have tipped things towards HD-DVD but since its been gaining popularity (slowly) blu-ray is simply getting into more houses. |

I think this post sent out the message
http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=797570 Its blu-ray or the highway it seems :thumbsup |
By the time it's settled.... everyone will be downloading their movies so it won't really matter much.
