sped up my site 400% just by changing config (tons of boob pics)

Turn off your cache to see the difference (disable cache from firefox's "Web Developer" plugin).

Basically the only thing I did was set up a wildcard for the subdomains and only put 2 thumbnails per subdomain. It loads 400% faster. Pretty cool trick. Really easy to implement.

The reason it works is because the browser by default only allows 2 connections at once per domain. So I only have 2 thumbs per domain so it can download all the images simultaneously. The alternative is that it has to wait for the previous ones to completely finish before it even requests the file.

As far as the site, it's still in the prototype stage. It's a boob free site I'm working on. Would love feedback. Will add more programs to it, just going through met-art stuff right now mostly. Gonna have a few text links on the bottom. Let me know your ideas for promoting it and how I should go about getting traffic on it. Thinking about skimming off a certain % in trades to other similar traffic sites.

btw, if you extend the site further, you might be able to use the low numbered subdomains again as the surfer won't see 'em load anyways...

The UNoptimized version actually loads faster for me. But either way, your eyes can't even look at the first row or two of photos before the whole thing is already loaded. Seems like so much extra trouble for nothing.

perhaps with tons more pics it would be more evident ..dunno :)

Was the cache cleared? Have to not cache in order for it to be an accurate test.

what about the concept? just keeping it simple like that. opinions?
