I haven't seen the Will Smith version - and he may well have butchered it to the point where you'd think it was a 28 Days Later ripoff - but the bloody book was published over 50 years ago.

I sincerely doubt Richard Matheson based his novel on that film.

On the other hand - considering what he did to Asimov's I, Robot - I have to give you the benefit of the doubt.
