Standard CPM for Adult adverts?
 

Just curious, cuz I have no idea... Whats the 'norm' these days, or what do you consider a GOOD deal for CPM? This would be on a site that gets nearly 1 million page views a day...

Okay, fuck the CPM, let me ask another way: What is the 'norm', and what is considered a 'bargain', for 1 million impressions/pageviews?

Two scenarios:

468x60 banner impressions (header)

full page views (404 traffic)

This would be on / from a freehost network.

2-3 years ago CPM advertising was at it's prime. now, it isnt. get the idea why no one posts to you now?

Cause you're still hung up on the per banner impression thing which nobody actually works to. Sure those that pay for a banner spot probably have access to how many times it's been shown (if they have an ounce of sense they will) but they're still not paying per impression.

Probably isn't too far off the mark. You can certainly pay around $1500 for a months banners on a few sites and get around 12 million impressions. Again though on the above you are not paying per impression, simply paying for a months placement of a banner with anything from 100% showing to a 1-6 showing of the banner depending where you go.

Drop the whole CPM thing and you'll start getting somewhere.

Okay, Im starting to understand now. Sorry for the ignorance but I havent been around in the adult industry too long to know what people are paying for ads and for what exactly. Im thinking of purchasing a freehost that gets about 1 million impressions a day, 500 - 800k uniques a day, and Im trying to decide if I should just run my own ads to either my own sites or sponsors, or, just sell the space off.

From what I know the site burns about 25mbps, and the host wants $2900/mn for the site which includes the managed server. So, Im just trying to crunch some numbers here.

You've got freehost traffic? OK, the cpm value is so close to zero that no one wants to hammer you by telling you that.

Freehost traffic was hard to sell YEARS ago on a CPC basis. No one with any savvy in this business will buy your traffic CPM at any price. :)

Why does this sound odd to me? It sounds to me, correct me if Im wrong, that free host traffic isnt worth shit. Is that what you are saying? Cuz a freehost is basically nothing more then galleries, galleries which webmasters send lots of traffic to and some get posted on pages like thehun and so forth, and from reading the boards here, I wouldnt doubt over half you mofo's do nothing but galleries and post to TGP's.

So you tell me, why the fuck are so many people bothering with galleries if the traffic aint worth shit? Maybe Im missing something, or maybe you are, Mr. Savvy.

I'll spell it out for you so the group understands what you're trying to have them miss.

If it had any value, you'd be sending it to a per signup or partnership program.
Because its worthless, you're trying to find a dupe to by it CPM.

ok, you edited you post to add this so I'll ask you. If you're not talking CPM anymore, tell us how much money your traffic makes you sending it to a pay per signup sponsor per month.

Well I dont have the site yet, so I cant tell you about a month, but the current owner, who doesnt have ANY ads on the site (dont ask Y, I dont know, he used to but he stopped for whatever reason) let me run some ads for a week.

I put a hosted collegefuckfest gallery on all the 404's for a week.

Total Clicks: 10019 Total Sales 6 Conversion: 1 : 1669 (I coldnt get total impressions stats for the 404's, the host says those stats program for that (server side) is broken, they are trying to fix)


For the footer of all the gallery pages, I put a text link to PE pills (albionmedical). Stats for that is

Unique Clicks: 5131
Sales generated: 4
Clicks per Sale (CPS): 1282

As for the header, I know this is stupid, but I wanted to send to one of my own sites instead of a sponsor, and so I made a quick PE site (not pills, a manual). I had the manual selling for $14.97 and I made 30 sales.... I dont have conversion stats because the way I set things up I couldnt properly track it. I was an overnight thing and I didnt have time to get it right, but I made some money so Im not bitching. Next time I know what to do,.

Yea I know other then the 404's I wasnt even adverting' porn... but the traffic does convert, just depends on what you promote, and Im trying to figure if it would be better for me to sell the ad space or just use it myself.

Put in you own ads to sponsors/own site

Time is money and the admin involved, not to mention the sales would make it just about a full time

Put your banners up tweak until you get it right........ major work and headache the otherway
