only benefit I could see is having more spider friendly urls

Manual or scripted, if you have traffic someone will submit to you

I'm gonna go manually initially so I know what types of tasks I need to automate into software. Being a programmer, it's better to do things manually and then automate as you find things that you are doing rather than coding things and forcing yourself to fit within a system that doesn't work naturally.

Not sure if that made any sense. ;)

I've had numerous clients who still maintain their TGPs manually each day. Not my preferred method, but then again with the complexity of most rotation scripts, it's an easy choice for a beginner or hesitant-to-learn-new-technology webmasters.

That said, most of them run fake TGPs and do not accept submissions. I personally would submit your galleries anywhere that will accept them - whether manually or automatically maintained. The more doors you knock on, the more likely you are to get your gallery listed.

Another benefit (or drawback, depending on how you look at it) is that your galleries will be reviewed by hand by a real live human being, instead of a script analyzing the HTML markup and link targets.

Cheers :)
