Best option... 1 year multi entry non immigrant visa Worst option... 30 day border trips, switching visas (tourist to paid then extensions, etc). A pain in the ass. but absolute worst ... getting a Thai bride :pimp |

I stayed 15 months on a 3 month visa, and got fined $3 per day overstay when I left at the airport.
It cost me just over 1000 but saved me having to leave come back etc. Please check if its still the same as I dont want you to get in trouble |

If you get a tourist visa, for 2months, you can go to immigration while you are in Thai to get another month extension
but i agree, go for the 1 year visa good luck! ps. oh, and overstay is now 500 baht PER DAY!!! That is about $15USD per day so if overstay try not to go too much overboard |
What some did that I met simply flew to the nearest island for 1 day and flew back and got a new visa on entry,I met one german who had done this for 15 years.
Again please check with the embassy or others to make sure what is possible now and what is not :) |

But if the police catch you anywhere else but the departure area of the airport you will face some serious problems. |

Btw border runs are pretty fucked up, I'd suggest getting a visa that lasts longer than 3 months. |

Why are they so picky with their visa regulations anyway. Wouldn't it be a good thing for them to have more western people with money in the country? :upsidedow
