Australian Porn Shoots

G'day, great site, so much info here to read over. My partner and I have done some tgp sites over the years and have been considering doing some porn shoots. We actually do wedding photography both still and video.

Are there any Aussie webmasters or someone that can advise if its legal to do porn shoots in Sydney and or Melbourne, Australia ? A fellow webmaster in USA gave us all the info for 2257 and we would of course do everything legal and professional. But are we actually legally allowed to by Australian laws etc ! ? We know we are not allowed to host porn content on Australian servers or a .com.au domain etc.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Bazza

I'm far from expert but there are a handful of people (that I can think of, probably shitloads more) that have done / are doing it.

From what I understand (and don't quote me), its legal to shoot up to and including explicit pics and videos. But I think there are different rules for each state. I remember someone saying that all master videos need to be located in ACT (not sure why). Hardcore penatration in most states is a no no. But the law might have changed since 2003. Better check with a lawyer.

IT IS ILLEGAL.

I know this because only 2 companies in australia have a licence to film porn - the company I used to co-run was one of them and thr other is Canberra based,

Lots of ppl shoot porn in Aus but I can tell u straight it is all shot ILLEGALLY.

I was talking to a new production company early last year about shooting in Australia as well. From what I gathered, you're only allowed to shoot penetration in Canberra or Darwin.
They had to fly the models from Melbourne or Sydney to Canberra, put them up in a hotel room for the night and shoot the scene during the next day.
It seemed like a lot of hassle for girls who weren't that impressive quality-wise so we ended up flying over to Montreal to shoot.
Anyway, I'll be back in Melbourne again in a month's time and I'll be investigating it further. Keep posting up what you find on this thread.

BULLSHIT. 100%

I have, and continue to, shoot softcore and hardcore porn 100% legally for a long time in the neantherdal state of Queensland and elsewhere.

It is about knowing and understanding the law, and there are many tricks that can turn a 100% legal enterprise illegal in a heartbeat.

:2 cents:

Thanks everyone for your posts. There clearly is no rules, or stupid conflicting laws per states and or no one knows whats right or wrong :) I also posted the same question on a couple of other places and got even more conflicting feedback.

Surely someone knows and or someone that has a lawyer working with them :) Of significance for us is Sydney and whether its legal in Sydney to shoot ?

Just contact an attorney, that is your safe bet.

There is no money in porn.

There are MANY lawyers who will happily take your money without actually having a clue on this issue - they just do not have the experience.

There are MANY factors to consider in structure and operations, but particularly so in management thereof.

I didn't mean to be just rude in my last post, and what I conradicted is at a glance actually true (so apologies for being snappy in my reply), but there are ways and means, and they ARE 100% legal and proven.

I should have said hit me up on ICQ 293 070 684.

Do that tomorrow and we'll swap numbers and have a chat.
