If a Republican wins... what will you do?

I'd consider moving to Canada.

WarChild 01-15-2008 09:27 PM

Yeah just so you know you can't just up and move to Canada anymore than we can just up and move down there, unless you have a chunk of change to invest.

RedShoe 01-15-2008 09:27 PM

Vancouver, or Toronto are the only two places I know of.

tony286 01-15-2008 09:28 PM

it depends on which one. From what I read its not too hard to move canada. Red shoe I was thinking of canada also maybe we can be neighbors :)

I have a lot of inlaws just outside Toronto. Could they sponsor me? Isn't that how things work up that way, you need a sponsor?

And uhm... why would you want to move here? Tomorrow our stock market will crash, and we can't travel anywhere because our dumbshit president has pissed off the entire world.

No it's not as simple as a sponsor.

If you have a degree and can show that you're a professional with a skill in need up here, you can get in _fairly_ easy.

If you can invest a large chunk of change in a business here, it's easy as pie.

If you're just a normal joe it can be pretty difficult.

You, however, can come hide in my spare room because I like you. I won't tell anyone as long as you keep making me trailers. :thumbsup

If Republicans win again I'd consider moving much further away than Canada.

Snake Doctor 01-15-2008 10:17 PM

The same thing I've done for the past 7 years. Hold my breath and hope they don't fuck things up too badly.

The only republican in the current field that I think would make a good president is John McCain.

The US President has much less power then you're giving them credit for.

Congress and the supreme court keep them in check for the most part.

If you remember Clinton signed a law that would have outlawed internet porn and the Supreme Court struck it down ! It was the Conservatives on the court that struck it down 5 to 4.

Don't think a democrat president would be any better now !

Hillary Clinton is already on record saying she would outlaw R Rated video games !

There is a chance of violence if a Republican wins.

The most serious threat being if Obama gets the nomination and then the election has racial overtones to it. If he were to lose such a fight, the day after could get pretty ugly.

Another concern would be the war and government riots that have been pretty peaceful, but probably only because everyone believes the Republicans are a sinking ship. If that ends up not being the case, bottled up emotions at these rallies could finally blow.

After Shock Media 01-16-2008 01:20 AM

Honestly jack shit really. Probably be depressed in Americans for a month or so. Keep an eye out for new scary laws and hope it all ends in another 4 years.

I honestly look at the pool of candidates on both sides and can't believe one of these dipshits will be the next president of the US.

bl4h 01-16-2008 04:59 AM

id be extremely grateful that a democrat didnt win. Extremely grateful that libs are moving out. then id put a cap in my head because I cant stand the religious right either

kowalsky 01-16-2008 05:21 AM

That would be really paintful, even for those who don´t understand what´s going on in this world.
