Huckabee: ?amend the Constitution? to ?God?s standards.?

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/01/15/...ods-standards/

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution. But I believe it?s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that?s what we need to do is amend the Constitution so it?s in God?s standards rather than trying to change God?s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family"

This guy is twisted. :2 cents:

I liked Huckabee and thought he kept his religion out of the mix more than I thought he would being a Baptist Minister, but that comment and video shocked me and scared me. I am surprised he said such a thing and his campaign must be scrambling hard to make sure he never slips like that again.

All that states is you can pray to whoever you want (not just Jesus) or not pray if you don't want, (in public schools) and most importantly: the government can't tell you either way what to do.

You should be able to pray to whom ever you want, where ever you want, without the government telling you either way.

HE WANTS THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF THE DECISION!

That's what he is proposing. :2 cents:

Quit twisting it to fit your hate Ron Paul agenda you ignorant fuck.

That guy is a religious freak, shame on the people of Iowa that gave him the lead in the first primaries there ...

Matt 26z 01-15-2008 10:19 PM

Huckabee is the flavor of the month. He knows it. He is just using his last breaths of air for all they are worth. Super Tuesday is coming and the bell tolls for thee. He will be finished.

Another example of why Iowa shouldn't be the first primary in the nation.

Those fucked up half assed backwards hicks don't deserve the attention.

With all due respect, the more you speak of Ron Paul's campaign, the more I'm convinced you really don't know what you're talking about in regards to it, man.

If that's what you're doing, I'm of the belief that you're looking at his words and actions with a twisted eye.

I never said what I have a problem with or what I don't.

I made an observation.

But, on to your point - I think you're confusing Ron Paul's argument of no "notion of a rigid separation between church and state" existing in the U.S. Constitution with some sort of mission to combine the two inseparably... which, from the initial post in this thread, seems more up Huckabee's alley.

There should be a rigid separation. Religion has no place in government as far as I'm concerned. You wanna worship the lord? fine.. do it in your home or church. the government isn't your house of worship nor should you get a constitutional amendment making it as such.

Only someone who wants to push religion into government would even consider trying.

mikesouth 01-15-2008 11:11 PM

Huckabee is already toast he needed a win in NH to stay viable and he didnt get it. If Guiliani picks up the fair tax mantra he will likely win and even if he doesnt he is currently in the best position. McCain has an outside shot.

For dems looks like its gonna be the Hildabeast

regardless of who wins we are all gonna be fucked

You're showing your twisted eye.

Whatever chip you have on your shoulder in regards to Paul comes through in your posts regarding him, imho.

He's talking about what's actually written in the Constitution - the actual words... and you're prattling on about what you personally think and feel.

Doesn't make you seem very rational, in my estimation... makes it seem like you have a very limited sense of what Paul's campaign is about.

Which brings us back to my original statement in this thread.

Replace the words "Constitution" with "Dianetics" and "Paul's campaign" with "Scientology".

And you're basically Tom Cruise dude.

I'm probably not even voting for Paul, man.

I'm just someone that considers himself a somewhat informed voter making an observation here.

Sorry if you can't handle my opinion.

Yeah it's totally irrational to look at the guys track record and pointing out facts of his religious agenda instead of just buying into his campaign rhetoric hook, line, and sinker. You're totally right dude. thanks!
