the sovereign bank near me has a coinstar machine and no charge for soveriegn customers to use it.
It's great because it makes a ton of noise while you are doing it in the nice quiet bank.

LoL thats awesome.

Unfortunately i dont have access to one of those that is free. I looked it up and i think they take 8-9% normally. That is a lot if you have a ton of change... and we have another alhambra bottle FULL

The ones around here will do it for free provided you get paid out in a gift card to some local business.

My old roommate and I split our change bucket when we parted ways... was a $220 gift certificate for each of us.

farkedup 01-11-2008 06:34 PM

start yelling and they'll take it.... they legally HAVE to take it since it is legal tender and they're a BANK

farkedup 01-11-2008 06:35 PM

Also call the 800 number if the manager tries to boot ya.... get THEIR bosses involved... cause enough fuss and they'll bend over backwards for ya.

YEah, I took $380 in change in loose bags to my bank and used their coinstar for free... It kicks ass. I love that machine. It feels like free money.

tiger 01-12-2008 12:27 AM

LOL, thats nothing.

I took 4k in quarters to my bank. :)

tony286 01-12-2008 12:29 AM

there is no more customer service.

Critik 01-12-2008 12:30 AM

^ How long did that take to save up?

rowan 01-12-2008 12:41 AM

They don't have bags so you can presort it? At my bank they give me coin bags which have the required amounts (eg 10c x 50, 20c x 25) written on the front. Then they weigh each bag and confirm its weight corresponds with what you'd expect.

I use to do that too and couldn't stand how filthy my fingers got from touching all the coins. Most banks have auto coin counters these days :2 cents:

DutchTeenCash 01-12-2008 05:15 AM

same here

you gotta sort them and pay for each role/bag

lbc213 01-12-2008 05:33 AM

My bank has one of those counters too, they are also at supermarkets too.
