WASHINGTON (AP) -- Americans born after Dec. 1, 1964, will have to get more secure driver's licenses in the next six years under ambitious post-9/11 security rules to be unveiled Friday by federal officials.

The Homeland Security Department has spent years crafting the final regulations for the REAL ID Act, a law designed to make it harder for terrorists, illegal immigrants and con artists to get government-issued identification.

I realized that I love big brother right after they put that rat cage helmet over my face.

I don't know why, but this doesn't really bother me very much.

it's just a new ID, what's the big deal? They've changed the ID's 2 or 3 times since I've lived in AZ, so what's one more change?

Zeitgeist : its one of those stupid conspiracy movies, but if you have nothing better to do for an hour it kills some time... the last section is all about how America wants to have complete control over you with microchips and such...

More so than they already do? I'm just saying, it's a fucking drivers license. It's already scanned at bars and corner stores, what's the big deal with this particular drivers license that has all of you bitching about big brother?

It doesn't bother me much either. I already have a driver's license and SSN; Our government already knows who I am.

The day I have to file paperwork to leave the state or travel to the next county, then I'll start to worry. Until then I'm fine.

I don't know the specifics of the new US drivers license but if I have to
guess I'd say RFID chip? So you can be tracked without you handing them
your card.....but just scan it when you pass without knowing it.
