Sounds like a missing or improper .htaccess file, if you have access to your old server see if there's a difference between the two.

Sometimes FTP servers wont show hidden files, or files that start with a .

i'll go back and double check things. if there is a difference, will just dragging my old .htaccess across cover me?

zagi 01-10-2008 09:03 PM

Its possible, but im just guessing here

permissions are all fucked up and i'm basically locked out of my own sites right now. server moves are a major pain in the ass :(

Sosa 01-10-2008 09:56 PM

who did you move from and too?

st0ned 01-10-2008 10:36 PM

I had it happen in the past, it was due to not dropping tables on the DB in my instance. Maybe backup and transfer the DB again with adding drop tables and see if it fixes your problem. :2 cents:

It shouldn't be that much of the pain to move. Did your new host move your files for you or did you do the move? Either your new host should help you straighten it out :)

Without a link... it is hard to say

got everything sorted out now, it was a .htaccess issue. fr whatever reason when the host did the transfer they didn't bring any of my .htaccess files over.

Check your error log file. Should be in the cpanel or via shell if you can.

chmod can be problematic sometimes. Maybe your new server doesn't like 777's or something :P

Sorry to hear that :Oh crap

But done by pros, you don't even see a hickup ....

Check to make sure the new server has the same feature ( with a phpinfo.php file ) and that mod_rewrite is running and that your htaccess file has the config for it.
