Television as we know it is about to change

By law, television stations nationwide must switch from the old method of transmitting TV signals known as analog to digital television (DTV) on February 17, 2009. DTV is an innovative new type of broadcasting technology that delivers movie-quality pictures and sound, more channels, and even high definition television (HDTV) to consumers with HD television sets.

While the benefits of DTV are remarkable, millions of households risk losing television reception unless they take the easy steps to receive a digital signal. We're here to assist you throughout the entire transition process.

who needs television when all the good shows are available on the internet?

It's called a converter box.

I don't care how they transmit it, it can be converted by the cable or satellite box if not the TV itself.

They no longer offer analog cable here but I'll be damned if my Grandmothers old ass TV doesn't still work with her new cable box.

I like how in the TV commercial they say the change is because the picture quality is so much better. Yeah, as if the federal government is concerned over citizens getting a nice picture.

It's being changed because the cons in government want to auction the frequencies and flood the FCC with untold billions in extra funding. This windfall of money will in my opinion be used to fund the regulation of pay cable TV and possibly the internet also. What else will they do with that money?

The date this goes into effect is also a scam, Feb 2009... If it was Feb 2008 there would be hell to pay at the elections.

I fucking hate digital the reception is worse than analog. If we get a heavy down pour of rain the signal goes all pixelated or we end up with a red pixel in the middle of the TV screen. We have spoken to our digital providers and they came out and had a look at our dish put some stupid booster on it and it still does exactly the same. Even if we get high winds it does it. They now say that its because their tranmitters have not been fully upgraded or some shit like that. My brother gets the same problems with his Digital dish and he lives in a different area to us. We never had problems with our reception when it was the good old analog
