Hosting Question
 

My question is simple. Ive used virtual servers before and have had no problems but with my new site I want huge traffic income and everything to go smooth for the members, is virtual hosting a bad idea? What if I just use it until I make more money to get a dedicated server?

Maybe transition to a VPS? Then to a dedicated box when you are at a point to do so! :2 cents:

Virtual is still ok, see sig for it, but for huge traffic, dedicated is better, just be sure you will get that huge traffic ...

if you got a small site , then you should just buy a hosting package.
Otherwise start with VPS and then switch to dedicated (best to take a host that has decent VPS and dedi so you can easily switch when needed).
There are VPS hosts that go up to 1gb ram, 750gb transfer etc (about 80$)
jaguarpc for instance (sometimes they hand out 10%-15% discounts forever, so take a promo when its there). im retning the basic linux vps with them for about 17$

I thinks it´s better to change to a dedicated server.

Everyone's got to start somwhere.... go for some adult friendly shared hosting first and work your way up to dedicated.

I say go with dedicated.

Why pay for what you don't need at this time? Start out small and hopefully your site will grow and then you can look to upgrade but keep your upgrade needs in mind from the start so go with a web hosting company who will be able to help you today, tomorrow and years from now.

Depends on how much traffic. Obviously at some point you are going to outgrow virtual, it's just a matter of when. There is no way a virtual can compete with a dedicated server but, again, it depends on how much traffic.
