Garth Brooks is back and I've got pics!

I was at Daytona today as they were testing for the upcoming Daytona 500 and bumped into
country superstar Garth Brooks. He was there taking care of some business as he will be singing the
National Anthem for the 500 race.

Garth was the king of country back when being country wasn't cool and you've got to love it
when you're in a rowdy bar and the DJ plays " Friends in Low Places " and EVERYONE starts singing.
Seemed like a really nice guy and was very personable.

There was a military presence at the track today as well and it's rumored that they were preparing for
the attendance of all the living US Presidents at the race. It's setting up to be quite a show.

Garth is a great guy. I met him and chatted for a while at his 100 million albums sold party back in I think it was 99 or 2000. :thumbsup Got an awesome gift basket. Had full pack of all his albums and bunch of other stuff. My most treasured piece though is a crystal lead paper weight half globe that is on my mantle at the moment. Great guy. :thumbsup

was Trisha with him?
Have you been to the 500 before? It is a blast. The Busch (now nationwide) Race on Sat is usually better racing though.

Sarah_Jayne 01-09-2008 08:09 AM

I am trying not to be giddy.

I didn't see her with him as he walked around. I've been to the 500 before and I've worked with NASCAR teams at every level so I've been to many races both as spectator and team member. As it's the 50th Daytona 500 this year the entire speed weeks will be awesome and I plan on being there for it all :winkwink:

Here's a video I took from some past Daytona races https://youtube.com/watch?v=zf5qwMU7I8Y

I think that was part of the lyrics to an actual country song :winkwink:

Shania Twain helped Country music become more mainstream and blurred the lines of what was up until then stereotypical country music. While the heart of country music remains the same the face of country music has changed bringing in a whole new fan base. Is country cool? Record sales would probably prove more than ever.

For the record, I like all kinds of music and don't stick to one genre but if I had to choose I'd take Country over Rap any day.

Looks like KB did a little wall riding... literally... which is all good 'cause he'll be in the garage by the halfway point of the 500 anyways...
I missed Brooks during his little hiatus there... glad to see him back...

justinsain 01-09-2008 11:39 AM

KB was fired from driving the #5 car to make room for the guy that left his step mom and is now driving the #18 for the guy that quit the Redskins.

But you are right that he will still end up in the garage half way through the race after once again over driving his ride :1orglaugh BTW Casey Mears drives the #5 now.
