Meet the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V (It's a monster)

This is it. The fastest, most powerful Cadillac ever built. The fastest, most powerful American sedan in history, for that matter. Locked, loaded, and gunning for Europe's heavy-hitting sport sedans-BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, Audi RS6. Read all that again. Now pinch yourself. No, you're not dreaming. Motown-well, GM at least-has its mojo back. Meet Cadillac's monster new CTS-V. Cadzilla, if you will. Here are the raw numbers: 550 horsepower at 6200 rpm. 550 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. They're only official "estimates," but as the engine under the new CTS-V's power-domed hood is fundamentally the same as the supercharged V-8 that's credited with 620-plus horsepower and at least 600 pound-feet in the hot new Corvette ZR1, you can safely assume the real SAE-certified figures will be close. "I'm confident we'll disappoint nobody with the numbers," says Ed Piatek, the CTS-V's program engineering manager.

They really forgot who they are. Its not a race car.

Did BMW forget who they were with the M5? How about Benz with the AMG E63? :pimp

I was never a big fan of Cadillacs, but this model looks awesome.

Not the same, not even close. For a brief time between mb dealers I worked for caddie, Caddie customers are older and looking for luxury, a living room on wheels. Where mb customers liked performance.

Sounds like it's quite the car. And for 30% less $$$ than anything comparable.

Shaft_1971 01-08-2008 07:34 PM

I love my Caddy

:thumbsup

well maybe they are looking to get younger buyers now too cause I agree with you on that unless it is a escalade not too many younger buyers of caddies

My leased company car is a 2008 Cadillac CTS. Love it. Comfrotable, no fee maintenance, all the goodies and decent horse power. Does that make me old? :(

Caddy has been gunning for younger buyers for years now.

You must have worked for them pre-Escalade. Cadillac CTS is/has been popular with younger drivers as well.

I still want a '72-'76 Eldorado Convertible tho :winkwink:

Now I feel fucking stupid, it had to be either 90 or 91. That was a long time ago. My bad.

J$tyle$ 01-08-2008 08:05 PM

BTW - 2008 CTS is Motor Trend Car of the Year.

It's a pretty sporty ride and for the price a good buy

:2 cents:

Don't.

Historically they were grandpa cars :winkwink:

The funny thing is I always wanted one BECAUSE mine had a new one every 2 years or so - and i thought they were so big and comfy AND COOL!

Growing up in NY all the big money Italians and Jews drove a Caddy.

:thumbsup :thumbsup

I was in NY too, it was the dealer in white plains. They didnt pay well enough so I went back to MB but the customers were so easy going compared to the younger mb customers. I worked in service.

have you forgotten that cadillac is working hard to redfine their customer base? The main people who buy cadillacs are literally dieing off and the baby boomers are replacing those old fuckers and their tastes are a bit different and not so much for caddies.

Currently you have insanely old people and blacks buying caddies... They NEED to find their way into a better crowd.
