Why adult sites don't take American Express?
 

WHY?? It would be possible to make so much more money, why CCbill and other adult payment processors don't accept AMEX?

All the strip clubs accept AMEX, infact, it's the most popular CC @ strip joints.

Because of all the cb's, amex wanted out. Got to thank the ones before us that did all that customer fucking.

tony is sooooooooooo right! Amex said about 3 or 4 years ago that they were OK with adult, but then with all the cb's, they decided it wasn't worth it.

Amex has been out of this industry much longer than 3 years, except for a few sites that were taking it out of compliance.

Fraud control issues, coupled with management opinions on the business, put an end to it a long time ago.

We used to take them, but AMEX stopped accepting transactions from adult sites.

Amex doesn't like small dollar transactions (none do really) 25 bucks a month is very small, a tit bar bill in the hundreds is just what they want.

They were never friendly towards adult internet. Point of presence adult they seems to love since that's much harder to dispute.

Strip clubs take amex because its a point of sale transaction with a receipt.

when i worked at a live video chat company back in '99 we had ppl who were addicted to this like crack. and when they wanted to get more than the daily limits we'd have them fax in scans copy of id's that were signged, copy of their cc card front and back, and a letter telling us to let them charge more. this one guy was there for a while, used amex and wasn't a long time customer, maybe 2-3 months. about 4th month he does $30k and wants to charge it back. so we sent the info to amex and they made him pay. i would imagine they got sick of shit like that.

AmEx is the best card to use at a strip club. Whenever a girl makes promises that she can?t keep to get you into the VIP room, let AmEx know and they will charge it back immediately.

They used to play the adult game CWM, but prob stopped at least 7 years ago - if not longer.

Who knows the motivation, but prob fair reason was abuse - they did not want the hassle - and may not have wanted the "association".

Still got a company which is really part of the adult biz, tho "subtle" and we got Amex on that - but, it's more physical product than net transactions.

You have to go under the radar but I know a solution that's been going for 3 years with prompt payouts every week. It's an aggregator but so is CC Bill.

I recall there were several "the sky is falling" threads posted on various boards at the time.

because people who want online porn never leave their home, so their whole slogan "don't leave home without it" was bumpkis.

It's a shame...I get 3 points per dollar spent on my Amex. Half our Christmas shopping comes from points we redeem from our years spending.
