Some advice for Sologirls and other Models going to Internext...

As with every show, I have had a few people hit me up wanting to shoot with our girls at Internext, which is about the dumbest time to shoot content and the reason is you should be out mingling with webmasters and others that can build your site and business.

You can easily fly a model to do a shoot with another, but its much harder to gather a large number of webmasters and interact with them... So when your at the show and want to waste the afternoon in room with just a few people doing a shoot, think about all the hundreds of people you could be out talking to building the traffic side of your site... :pimp

Wizzo has spoken!

Well said I never thought of that angle before.

MrBro 01-08-2008 12:01 PM

i thought that you were going to remind them to keep their hands over their drinks and not leave cocktails unattended.

also good advice.

Jman 01-08-2008 12:03 PM

Damn, you're not only cute... you're smart ;-)

D-Money 01-08-2008 01:28 PM

I thought you were gonna say,

"don't forget to wash your hands after the shoot".

or

"Stay away from KB"

Very good advice as well! :thumbsup

I respect where you are coming from but just not sure I agree...

First off, there is plenty of time in my mind to do both, shoots and mingle with webmasters...

Second, there are tons of webmasters that will merely waste the models time hoping to get some action and with nothing to give other than a few inappropriate compliments.

Third, plenty of amateurs have built up very successful traffic with trades made with amateurs that they shoot with - plus develop deeper relationships than just "hey bro can I get you a beer" type involvements...

Fourth, KB has got mojo and that is worth more than ten drunken webmasters with hard ons any day of the week. :winkwink:

Think about all the sales those handjobs could bring you!

Excellent points! The amateur market is a little separated from the rest of the online porn business, and if you want to talk about optimizing time for money, sometimes it is much more worthwhile for the model to get content done with numerous other girls than it is for them to talk to business reps or traffic brokers or other folks who wouldn't really have much to do with an amateur site.

If the model is being paid to be there by her wrangler/webmaster/whoever, though, then he might be paying her to stay on his arm at the parties or to be a booth girl or the like, in which case doing shoots would be counter-productive.

This is Very True!
Some girls have very active lifestyles, Home life, School, Live out of Country, you name it, and use these times 2 do both!

I believe I get more traffic from the exchange of links, and Promotion of 2 web girls, from a shoot, than the girl walking around to New Webmasters.

There is room for both if Planned out.

The shoot with TeenKelly and TiffanyTeen took about 2 hours or less, and the return on that was Great!

Just my 2 cents.

GotGauge 01-08-2008 03:02 PM

Oh and the Use of the room!! Might as well get sets done, with the price of the room, and most Amateur or Solo girls always looking for new places 2 shoot!

Good point but many "solo" girl sites do share "guest appearances" with solo models from other sites, very similar to the "amateur" way of doing things. If the model is truly doing only a solo site then I guess mingling with the hoi polloi makes sense but I agree only under very rigid conditions - a la Lightspeed-style.

My main point is that spending time with plenty of the people that are so called webmasters is a major waste of time unless they are actually the people that can make executive decisions.

I think for most models its important to have a chaperone that can keep them from being cornered by one guy that has no traffic to send and just wants to get laid or whatever.

I never said shooting with other models was a bad thing at all, and I think many of us that have been around this business for any time build relationships way beyond "Bro"ness or whatever.

I understand your points, but based on my experience these same small sites 2 weeks after the show are looking for traffic and wondering why they don't have more affiliates and I just think shows are great time to get some people onboard and if they take the time to know the people that really can make a difference.

For Example there's one MM webmaster that sends BrookeSkye around 10sales a day and has ever since he got to meet her 2years ago at Internext and everytime that I talk to him with much respect he tells me to say hi for him and I'm certain he wouldn't have been as loyal of a affiliate had he not met her...

Great advice, sometimes though it is good to try and arrange shoots in your spare time.

Also one last piece of advice... sleep with casa nova he has extra room in his bed. lol

I agree with you but your example here would kind of be based on that chaperone webmaster already being sophisticated enough to know who's who and who's useless. I guess since there is no sort of device that you can use to quickly scan for bullshit the best a solo model can do (with or without a webmaster chaperone) is be friendly with everyone, since you never know who will be big tomorrow and who was big yesterday but not anymore.

You never really know who is that unheard of webmaster that avoids the boards but can send tons of sales, or the newbie that three months later is the whale that everyone is kissing ass to get traffic from. By the same token, you never know who that "board personality" that acts like a whale but is really less than a minnow board whoring from their parent's basement and fishing for an excuse to be called a webmaster. So mingling is good - no doubt that is the main reason for being there - but if all you can bring home from the show is a bunch of useless cards and/or a good photo and video set then I say it is definitely worth taking a couple of hours out to get a shoot in so that you KNOW you didn't waste time going. :2 cents:

When I attend industry events, I am always careful to wear my Bullshit Detector Watch. That way, I can casually glance at my watch, and say OMG, I'm late for a meeting...or make it ring, and when someone asks what that was, say it's my Bullshit Detector, and then stroll away:

I went to my first webmaster show back in 1996, and that was the one and only time I've done a shoot with another Amateur at a show. I found it more productive to just meet people and hope business comes from it. Then again, I have never been known for shooting with other webgirls, and have only shot with a handful over the past 13+ years. I prefer shooting with unknowns to bring more realism to my site.

But, I do tell other Amateurs (not "solo-girls") that the shows are a great place to get content for themselves if they are so inclined. You can still meet people and network, and take time to mix in a few shoots. The shows are one of the few chances many of the Amateurs ever have a chance of meeting or get together with one another.
