LilBro 01-08-2008 09:44 AM

WOW... did not see that coming

notoldschool 01-08-2008 09:44 AM

I miss the Riggins, Theisman, and hogs days.

Snake Doctor 01-08-2008 09:45 AM

Don't worry redskins fans, I hear Cam Cameron is available

Mutt 01-08-2008 09:50 AM

sad - i just heard that on ESPN - he said it was the toughest year of his career - he has a grandson battling leukemia and then the death of Shawn Taylor. he's 67, time to smell the roses and go back to his racing team. being an NFL head coach is one of the most grueling and stressful jobs out there.

Mr. Mojo Risin 01-08-2008 09:51 AM

I saw that coming Saturday after the Redskins lost and told my buddy. I picked them to win too, because of the recent success. Gibbs hasn't got very far in the postseason since he returned to coaching and it's been 4 seasons now. He's 67 too.

no one saw it coming....we all figured 1 more season, since he was signed through 08'

the only coach i can see coming in & not skipping a beat...is well...retired

wonder how much $ synder would have to pay for Bill Cowher anyways? :1orglaugh

Fat Panda 01-08-2008 09:59 AM

he should stick to nascar.....

Cyndalie 01-08-2008 10:04 AM

The guy is 67 and a HOF'er, he's done good. Being both president and head coach had to be tough, and after losing Taylor, emotionally draining.

Probably a really good idea with Kyle Busch joining his nextel Cup team and their switch to Toyota.

Why would anyone want stress like coaching a football team at that age? If I'm pulling those kind of hours when I'm approaching 70, I fucked up somewhere along the way.

working into old age at something you love and dealing with people of all ages keeps many people young and healthier than if they retire to the sofa or a golf cart.

He says he's taking a few years off so his kids can finish school w/out moving and get some more quality time in with the mini's. I doubt he's going to pick up a job this next season, though I'm sure he's being courted by a lot of teams.

Damn I just this thread and went posted another one about Gibbs.

I thought the Skins were going to beat Seattle, it sure looked that way for awhile.

I really hope that the continue to try and build their team with their exisiting young talent and don't go back to overspending on aging former pro bowlers.

gornyhuy 01-08-2008 09:51 PM

Love that guy, but I kind of wish he'd never come back. His legend is now a little bit tarnished in my mind.
