GEAUX TIGERS!

I'm from Louisiana (unfortunately, living in TX now). LSU has it's main campus in Baton Rouge and not New Orleans. It has so many branches now, though. Sheesh! There was a plan at one time to rename all public universities in Louisiana LSU and just put the city name behind it.....i.e., LSU Baton Rouge, LSU Natchitoches, LSU Shreveport (which there is one), etc.

I've heard of her. Last I checked, LSU is in Baton Rouge, the extent of their damage from Katrina was that a bunch of refugees from New Orleans moved there. The game may have been played in New Orleans, which was good for them, but economically for New Orleans the winner didn't matter.

There were some big time hits in this game! We'll be seeing a lot of these players in the NFL in the next few years.

A good bit of players either grew up in the New Orleans area or had family there. Even though they went to school in Baton Rouge it doesn't mean they were "from" there.

Then I guess it didn't matter which college won the national championship. It would have been good for USC, good for FU, good for AU,... after all, they all had players from the new orleans area or players that had family from the new orleans area...

Overall I think you are missing the point. Say LSU had a great season, they had a great run, hell, they WON a National Championship!

But dont say LSU should have won (or you are glad they won) because of all the things they have been through!

i don't think anyone was saying that. Also you have an extremely high number of players who go to LSU that lived in the greater new orleans area compared to maybe 1 or 2 that went to florida or other schools.

Also the orginal comment that you seem to be upset about was " Im not a college ball fan but for all that city has been thru.. nice to see "

Maybe he meant it was nice to see for the people who live in the new orleans area, the fans. To get to not only cheer their team and see them win it all but to have them basically at a home game where it is a lot cheaper for them to go see it. Where they don't have to spend money on hotels and transportation. Something enjoyable for the people, not just the team. No one "deserves" anything when it comes to sports.

Also the city would have probably made a little more money if it wouldn't have been LSU and instead been to teams from out of state. While some people from BR will rent a hotel for the night so they dont have to drive home drunk. If it would have been 2 out of state schools playing all of their fans would have been getting hotels and most would have stayed for several days to make a vacation out of it.
