Question for GFY guitar experts.

Help me settle an argument with someone.

The intro to Thunderstruck is Angus actually picking each note or is heavily amplified hammer-on and knock-offs? Does he do it differently live?

WarChild 01-07-2008 10:39 AM

Oh and since someone's going to ask if I was right or not in the argument, I said it sounds picked in the studio and not picked live.

Ice 01-07-2008 10:39 AM

He is picking every note in the studio version

Yeah I got that part. But live, is it hammer-ons and knock-offs or am I just wrong?

Ice 01-07-2008 10:41 AM

This live version you can tell he is picking every note also

Well I guess I owe someone lunch then. Damn you Ice, damn you. :{

I have seen both ways live, but when he is showboating live he is doing hammer ons and pull offs. I find it really hard to do hammer ons and pull offs on that song and not hold the e and g strings because if I don't they resonate and it sounds like shit.

Let me try this a lil'. I prefer picking each note if I remember correctly though..

Zango 01-07-2008 12:48 PM

I have seen them play over 10 times. He picks each note.

It does sound like a hammer but it's not.
