does anyone still use directNIC?

i ask cause i got 350 directNIC dollars for sale, they would go cheap, so if anyone is interested lemme know

directfiesta 01-06-2008 11:36 AM

yes, for priority domains.

rockbear 01-06-2008 02:10 PM

yup directnic has my bigger sites

CC 01-06-2008 02:17 PM

Yup, I trust them.

Finike 01-06-2008 02:22 PM

Yes, for my DNS domains

The Heron 01-06-2008 03:01 PM

Not anymore, too expensive and kinda gay

Peaches 01-06-2008 05:20 PM

I use them. Can you not get them to just credit back your card for the bucks? If not, how do you intend on moving them over to someone else's account?

Horny Dude 01-06-2008 05:50 PM

DirectNIC rocks! Never knew they have DirectNIC bucks....learn something new everyday on GFY!!

MrVids 01-06-2008 05:51 PM

in the beginning i did to show loyalty to industry people going mainstream, but their non-competitive rates, lack of domain privacy services, and generally outdated setup was enough for me to move everything to other registrars over the last 2 years. out of my 200+ domains I think i have a dozen there.

SuzzyQ 01-06-2008 07:41 PM

Never had a problem with DirectNIC.

CunningStunt 01-06-2008 08:01 PM

no. they suck donkey balls. I transferred over 200 domains away from them a few years back after one fuck up too many.

Forest 01-06-2008 08:16 PM

all my domains are there

wouldnt have my domains anywhere else

:thumbsup:thumbsup

LexiSexton 01-06-2008 08:18 PM

LiveDose 01-06-2008 10:07 PM

I used to.

Darkhorse 01-06-2008 11:01 PM

I have a couple there and haven't had any probs...

Gambrinus 01-06-2008 11:07 PM

Been there several years, never had a problem.

Only thing I dont like is lack of whois privacy.

We still use DirectNIC for our important domains. I would never trust Godaddy with anything important. They have that nice little clause in their terms that say they retain ownership on the domain and can take it back at any time. A friend of ours owned virginbeer.com that he was going to use for a microbrewery he was developing in the British Virgin islands. Richard Branson came along, and Godaddy took back the domain and gave it to him for an undisclosed sum of money. All Malcolm got was a refund on the years left on his "lease". That is just scary.

ztik 01-07-2008 12:18 AM

Sarah_Jayne 01-07-2008 04:25 AM

I still have some there and I have never had any trouble but I have more with namecheap these days.

NinjaSteve 01-07-2008 04:33 AM

DirectNIC is old school. You could use those domain dollars to register domains and then transfer them to a new registrar.

most likely because she is throwing hearsay out there, I have checked all their legal pages and see NOTHING like this

godaddy is a GREAT registrar if you follow the rules, almost every "horror story" i have heard is from idiots who do shady shit

chances are this owner of virginbeer.com didn't even try and fight with a lawyer or he would have won the case...or it might be that richard branson already had plans to open a brewery..there are millions of reasons that godaddy could have accepted branson's legal docs
