Hey ARS, What Are All These Traffic Leaks Doing in the FHGs?

A KAT investigation has uncovered the fact that many Adult Revenue Service (ARS) FHGs have traffic leaks. This was uncovered shortly after we wrote our December 31st post for Porn Star Catalog. For proof of concept, you can look at our post, click any link therein (they all lead to ARS) and scroll to the bottom of the page. The links are for signups to the webmaster program and are labeled ?Webmasters?. Obviously, if someone winds up signing up as a webmaster you ain?t gonna get the credit for sending it.

There are also other links that take users to areas like the Terms of Service or the 2257 compliance statement and have no clickable path back to the tour without use of the browser?s back button. But the most interesting one is the Customer Service link, which takes you to an entirely different site. On that site, there are so many places to go that your surfer will never get back to your tour. And one of those places that the surfer can go to? is a listing of all the ARS sites complete with links to get back to the tours? without the affiliate code.

The surfer hasn?t bought anything yet. They don?t need customer service. And the links to the 2257 compliance, Terms of Sale and Privacy Policy can be done in popup windows that are activated by OnClick. The leaks there are just a little bit insane and all of this tends to hurt affiliate earnings, so I think ARS needs to Kiss A Turd!

Can we get this fixed? Four traffic leaks per FHG is alot, don't you think?

You reinventing the wheel here :)

Interesting

They have a perfectly good message board of their own. :2 cents:

KingK7 01-06-2008 05:15 AM

Maybe you should sue them?

Great campaign you have going here.. Is your goal to attack every PPS program then?

I will speed things up.. My terms, privacy, 2257 links don't pass through an ID and I'm sure some Webmaster links on some promo tools don't either. You going to push my program for me now too?

It's my program, my hosted tools, my way, if you don't like it.. then get off my bandwidth bill and make your own.

LOL, on your bandwidth bill? Are you some sort of fucking idiot? Do you realize why programs use affiliates? Its because their cost per sale is LOWER than if they did it all themselves. So you admit that you steal traffic from your affiliates? Ah well, I guess the first step to fixing your problem is to admit that you have on in the first place.

And yeah, I am going to knock every dirty program out there. There are plenty of them, so I am sure I'll be quite busy. But not every program steals traffic from its affiliates.

I'm sure he has a clue or two, after all, he runs his own affiliate program and has been consulting for a few.

Not necessarily true. It has to do with maximizing profits. Just because you have your in-house traffic doesn't mean you can't increase your profits by having affiliates as well. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

They will have one 2257 page per domain. There are no links of any kind on that page. When you click the link IT OPENS IN A NEW WINDOW. This is common practice and I have not seen any other program do it any differently. This is not a traffic leak at all and every program I have seen does it this way. There is no where for them to go on this page.

All the other links you mentioned also open in a new window so you are not really even losing the traffic. (I am going by the ARS link on your blog) The chances of someone clicking on a customer service link if they are not a customer already is probably zero. And if they do, the link has opened in a new window so they still have your fhg window open.

The only thing I can see some people complaining about is the webmaster referral links. A lot of programs don't give credit for that though. I would say more than half of them don't. You have to send referrals through a dedicated webmaster referral link which is almost always different than your standard link code. If you want to bust ARS's chops over this, then you have to add a lot more programs to the list who do the same thing.

Exactly. If you don't like the FHGs don't use them. This is not a conspiracy that you're bravely exposing, minusonebit. When you CHOOSE to promote a program look at their FHGs and CHOOSE whether or not you wish to use them.

Your time would be better spent getting psychiatric help.

polish_aristocrat 01-06-2008 09:14 AM

minusonebit, why don't you go after the tube sites, like someone suggested ?

evildick 01-06-2008 09:21 AM

It says this in your article:

"There are also other links that take users to areas like the Terms of Service or the 2257 compliance statement and have no clickable path back to the tour without use of the browser’s back button."

Did you even click those links? They all open in a new window for me. You don't even need to use the back button because your tour is still open.:disgust

Another fine investigation.

noone1 01-06-2008 09:54 AM

You fucking retard. I'd say .00000001% of all people click one of those links and probably aren't buying anyway.

ARS Bryan 01-06-2008 10:14 AM

minusonebit,

what the FUCK are you talking about?

NONE of our FHGs intentionally have anything more on them than the standard "18 U.S.C. 2257 Record-Keeping Requirements Compliance Statement" that links to http://www.smut.com/2257.htm

It would have been nice if you could have ICQ'd me with any so-called gallery with a "traffic leak" so I could have taken care of it right away. We have over 13,000 galleries in our system and I'm sure there are a couple that are bound to be broken.

BTW, don't EVER post something like this on GFY again without contacting one of us at ARS first, you FUCKING IDIOT. I'm glad you posted this on a Sunday morning at 7am when no one from ARS is even around so you could start some bullshit drama. I'm banning you right now from our program.

You just pissed off one of the oldest and most reputable adult affiliate programs. Good work.

Bye, moron.

Good job, I signed up for ARS in 1999/2000 and ARS have always been top of issues when they have been brought to your attention either by email or by a post on your message board.

Nice. The sad part is that he didn't even have his facts right. All the links at the bottom of the galleries on his blog opened in a new window. There was no traffic leak at all.

I assume that is why he is avoiding this thread. if he was smart he would take that stupid post off his blog.

He should be taking on Tube sites. ARS has been around for awhile, why couldn't you just email them or post about it on their message board. 99.999% they will answer your questions and resolve any problems.

BTW.. ARS
Are there any new sites that are exclusive? Thanks

Yes we do have some sites that feature exclusive content. The redesign of ShemalesParadise uses exclusive content and we have a whole lot of new exclusive sites in the works :)

Gotta stay tuned for those though

Ya, I was being conservative when I said more than 50% did the same thing. I think it is probably closer to 90% that do the same thing.

Rather than contact them privately/directly you come trying to make yourself look superior.

I just want to clarify again one thing here to all the readers.

On every FHG we offer there is one (1) link at the bottom.

Its a 2257 link that pops in a new window. The 2257 page has nothing but text on it.

Wrong. What's silly is taking something like this public without first bringing it privately to the program and talking it over with them first. In fact it's not only silly it's downright assinine, and I have no surprise whatsoever that a lot of programs are fed up with idiots doing it, usually for the sake of some lame weekend drama.

ARS is obviously here for the long haul. Where was minusonebrain a couple of years ago? No one even heard of him back then. How many times does this little shitsqueak have to shoot himself in the foot before he learns how to aim?
