Spam Assasin fucking RULES.
 

Thank god - I finally got fed up with hand-deleting hundreds of spam per hour and turned on spam assassin. Holy shit, it works great... :thumbsup

So far I have zero false positives and maybe 2 or 3 spams total have gotten through to my inbox.

How does it compare to spam arrest? I have that and am pretty happy although I do miss quite a few e-mails when people don't authorize themselves when sending me mail :(

I've never used spam arrest, so I'm not sure. I've been keeping a close eye on my junk bucket looking for false positives and so far none after thousands of spams, but it will be a few weeks before I'm really comfortable letting it run without watching it carefully.

It is phatservers standard spam setup apparently. Thats why I'm using it. Its completely passive filtering as far as I understand it.

Actually I just remembered and figured its worth mentioning... I'm using spam assassin AND the basic filter and remove system in Thunderbird... so TB automatically moves all the flagged shit from SA and then throws in a few of its own that SA missed.

Do you install this software on your server?

I've been using it as well but was having too many false positives.. So I changed to using my own rules etc. and am pretty happy with it. Going to be writing a script to delete the flagged messages straight from the server so I don't have to download them.

Yeah... your hosting company might already have it setup for you.
