Just saw The Kindgom...........

Overall, I thought it was a pretty decent movie. I saw how they tried to show both sides and how similar they are while also showing how different they are.

I was hoping for more action, but the last part of the movie did kick some ass.

Anyone else see it?

It's about an FBI team that goes to Iraq to investigate a bombing of a US base.

Yes, a very good and well thought out film!

I watched it on the weekend and was very impressed by the impartial view the presented. During the intro I feared that it would be too pro America and was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. The action was pretty good and the overall pace of the movie was good as was the cinematography. The only problem I had with it was the audio mix...I found that the vocals were really quiet for the most part.

When a terrorist bomb detonates inside a Western housing compound in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, an international incident is ignited. While diplomats slowly debate equations of territorialism, FBI Special Agent Ronald Fleury quickly assembles an elite team and negotiates a secret five-day trip into Saudi Arabia to locate the madman behind the bombing. Upon landing in the desert kingdom, however, Fleury and his team discover Saudi authorities suspicious and unwelcoming of American interlopers into what they consider a local matter. Hamstrung by protocol-and with the clock ticking on their five days-the FBI agents find their expertise worthless without the trust of their Saudi counterparts, who want to locate the terrorist in their homeland on their own terms. Fleury's crew finds a like-minded partner in Saudi Colonel Al-Ghazi, who helps them navigate royal politics and unlock the secrets of the crime scene and the workings of an extremist cell bent on further destruction. With these unlikely allies sharing a propulsive commitment to crack the case, the team is led to the killer's front door in a blistering do-or-die confrontation. Now in a fight for their own lives, strangers united by one mission won't stop until justice is found in The Kingdom

another one of those all American movies where a bunch of wanna bees take on an "army" and come out the winners.
just tired of that all American propaganda.

I have to say for all the people saying it was impartial, I did see it with a couple Muslim guys I know, and they were just laughing at the bias of it. They aren't the fundamentalist type to really give a fuck, but they did find the last shootout quite funny. You know the one where guys are on rooftops all around them yet none of them get hit haha. All in all though, movie wise (ignoring all the PC impartial bullshit) it was pretty alright.

axelcat 01-04-2008 10:17 AM

It was ok

Kimo 01-04-2008 10:20 AM

i liked it

I saw it in theatres and wasn't that impressed. The acting was very stiff and the camerawork was so shaky and up-close that you couldn't see properly what was going on. I'm really getting tired of this "handicam in combat" view of action. The Steadicam was invented for a reason. I was looking forward to more plot, but they kept the scope very narrow so it was mostly just a "blow shit up" movie. Oh well.

cool i have to rent it.

Well, everyone is tired of your anti American propaganda, so I guess that makes us even.
