starting my first blog / splog, where to start?
 

Hey Everyone

I'm a complete noob,

I've got my first dating blog up, but it's a single thing, and isn't moving anything yet( on g_daddy - meh), so someone had suggested a splog type -- auto fed, using some management scripts to manage content and linking.

I'm starting my first blog/splog and would appreciate any tips as to where to start, like........


hosting?
DWHS on vhost? been trying godaddy and just not happy.

scripts to use?
-wordpress is the defacto, i know that, but still need.......

- manage blogs / posts
- rss feeds on WP
- link traders / trackers for on WP


programs that work well.
I need some kinda quick start stuff, just to get some cash rolling in, then I'll re-focus on the long term building.

1st choose a domain and find a host, a probider you choose will depend on the content you plan to promote.

Once that has been taken care;
You will then need to choose a suitable cms, such as wordpress (wordpress is recommended)
Once that is installed you should take care of SEO on it before anything else.

Once you have done that, its all down to looks.
100's of themes are available on the main wordpress site or you can just google "free wordpress themes" (unless ofcourse you want to pay for a custom one)

Now that you blog is installed, seo'd and looks good its time to find a suitable sponsor for your content.
There are hell of alot of sponsors around If you plan to promote teen i can ohnestly recommend http://www.teenrevenue.com/

There is your downfall. Build for the long-term first then do short-term projects.

dont bother with auto post for your first blog, write your own posts, link images direct to affiliate and start promoting

make comments at edgy non-porn celebrity blogs

go over to thunder-ball.net and start trading links
